It's Junkie Day: Billy Don't You Lose My Number - Larry Craig
Edited on Wed Sep-05-07 04:20 PM by seemslikeadream
LISTEN TO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.npr.org/blogs/talk/2007/09/its_junkie_day_bi...

If ever a day begged for a political junkie segment, this is it. We planned to talk a little bit about Senator Larry Craig's resignation, and then he changed his mind (maybe).

The only problem is that when he made the phone call to let his team know about his new plans, he dialed the wrong number and left a very detailed message.

On the campaign front, Fred Thompson won't be in the lineup for tonight's debate in New Hampshire, but he'll get plenty of airtime to make his loooong-awaited announcement. John McCain is still catching flack for calling a high school student a "little jerk," all in good fun. And all of Washington is getting ready for next week's progress report from Gen. David Petraeus on Iraq. We've drafted Ken Rudin into the fray for our usual visit with the political junkie. Got comments? Post 'em here...

1. The "little jerk" part was funning, the crowd laughed, but
when mccain said "you're drafted" the crowd was uncomfortable, and it was not funny. really bad joke to make to highschoolers.

2. If he'd said that to my child, I demand an apology.
Teens have a lot to deal with as it is, and here adults tell them since they were going to school is how they must respect authority. Then someone like McCain comes along and calls the kid a jerk...well, there goes any respect a kid might've had.

Craig Voices Doubts on Exit
Sen. Larry Craig (R) opened the possibility of reversing his stated intention to resign from the Senate on Sept. 30 in a voice mail message obtained by Roll Call that the Idaho conservative inadvertently left at a wrong number

8. Wrong Number Huh???
Methinks Larry's been double-crossed by his own lawyer or someone in the office. I find this hard to believe that he would dial a number that supposedly he would be familiar with (especially if one follows the lead from TPM that Craig contacted Martin weeks ago) the number he was calling and the answering machine. One would think if he wasn't sure of the number, he'd just leave a call back number and not the details. This sure sounds like someone with access to Martin's machine has it out for Craig. This sounds too specific...that Craig thought he was in Martin's voice mail and is being thrown under the bus yet again. Keep it up, Larry, we need the distraction and amusement.

9. I agree- the "wrong number" bit sounds like a bogus cover story.
I think there are some serious battles being
waged behind the scenes right now. And Craig
is just one of the casualties.
