RollCall: Craig left Vmail at wrong number discussing how "resigning" was part of a crisis strategy

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

<snip>

CRAIG VOICEMAIL LEFT AT WRONG NUMBER: Sen. Larry Craig (R) opened the possibility of reversing his stated intention to resign from the Senate on Sept. 30 in a voice mail message obtained by Roll Call that the Idaho conservative inadvertently left at a wrong number. Craig left the digitally recorded message on the recipient's mobile phone voice mail Saturday morning, about a half-hour before he announced his intention to resign his Senate seat at month's end. The message was provided to Roll Call by the phone's owner, who is a Washington, D.C., resident not involved in politics and is not the person the Senator was trying to reach. Craig discussed his forthcoming announcement more as a strategy to rehabilitate his political fortunes than a statement about his looming departure. Roll Call: Craig Voices Doubts on Exit

1. This is as funny as the GOP sending emails to the wrong address
When you're dealing with sensitive material you'd think they'd be a tad more careful.

7. Reportedly he called a kid - a student named "Billy"
Elayne Boosler and Merrill Markoe played it on Stephanie Miller's show today, where they are guest hosting this week.

They said Craig's lawyer's name is Bill. Craig supposedly thought he had reached his attorney.

It was hilarious. This story just keeps getting better.

2. That's good confirmation
I think it's clear that he is going to fight his departure from the Senate at this point - he has Limbaugh and Hannity out there attacking Democrats for hounding him from the senate, as well as a number of articles at Townhall - he's decided to fight and he has a certain amount ofh is party behind him.

3. Good!
I would love for him to remain in the senate! It would be tremendously good for Democrats and bad for Republicans.

8. Wow, more lies/hypocrisy/cynicism
So he wasn't sorry at all, as he said in his "resignation" statement. Rather, he was counting on an outcry, protestations and calls for his exoneration?! And Spector's weird statement was just Part 2 of the strategy. They get sleazier by the day.

I'm a Senator! What do you think about that?!
