1. what happens here in anbar,
STAYS in anbar!

My decision about surge. Calm assessment. Not a reaction by pols in washington, based on polls in the media.

WE withdraw with success, not with fear and failure.
They will follow us HOME AND ATTACK US, so we continue to keep them on their heels here in IraqNam.

9. No it isn't. Religion is irrelevant to him. If that oil were located underneath a bunch
of Worshippers of the Pink Bunnyrabbit in the Sky, he'd be after them and have his minor actors take swipes at their religion, too--while handing out recipes for Pink Bunnyrabbit stew.

It's all about the oil.

Other idiots--to include Sunni and Shia idiots--the Xtians aren't the only fools on parade, here--like to dress this conflict up as a Holy War. The Christian end times fundies are as idiotic as the Shi'a "We are the RIGHTFUL guardians of the Holy Places--On to Jerusalem!" jerks. And the House of Saud? They're real 'role models' as Guardians, nu? And then, just south of this mess, are the Jews, without oil, but a lot to lose, sitting on a shitload of weapons, nervously.

It's a powderkeg over there.

Everyone wants a piece of the oil pie, and none of the bastards fighting for it are unwilling to drag the religion of others through the mud if they think that might help them get it.

But it's not personal--it never is. They just want what they want, and it doesn't matter who's in the way.

8. They looked a little pissed to me--it was a CLAP OR ELSE moment.
I don't think those people are idiots. They were standing there for OVER AN HOUR WAITING. They were told that they were standing, waiting, for CONDI. Then they got the Monkey instead.

When one day is the same as the next, and it all sucks, any change in the routine is interesting, and even people who wouldn't vote for the fucker on a bet will react in that fashion.

It reminded me of LBJ in Vietnam, really. He got the same sorts of receptions. You think everyone over there was thrilled to be there? Hell, at least there were more whores and drugs, booze and bars, and better food, at that end of the world.
