Senator Warner, You could'a been a contendah.
You opted not to. I was born and raised in Virginia, John, and while I never voted for you, I came close once or twice. When you told Ollie North to go piss up a rope, I cheered, then I voted for Chuck Robb.
Here's my issue with you, sir. You have remained silent, and afforded tacit approval for the worst President in our lifetime to shred the U.S. Constitution. Now, as Iraq slowly turns to shit, you have a problem with the way the leader of your party is prosecuting his war. You are almost 4,000 dead GIs late, Senator.
Damnit, man! You swore an oath to "preserve, protect, and defend" that Constitution, but when push came to shove, you failed to do so. You placed party over country. I thought you were better than that.

1. Party before country
that's the state of the GOP today. At least some of them had the patriotism to stand up to Nixon when it was clear he was guilty.
