Wingnuts who dismissed Abu Graib & Gonzo's torture now claim CRAIG's cop was "aggressive"
Edited on Thu Aug-30-07 09:34 PM by UTUSN
HANNITY spent 3 hours tying himself in pretzels in attempting to defend, while not defending, CRAIG. & when he played the audio of the police interrogation, which he did multiple times, he was smearing the cop as being “aggressive,” which he intoned with the implication of “abusive.”

He kept posing the, uh, tortured, question as to whether CRAIG was "leading a double life" or whether he had been entrapped, and with every playing of the audio, he attempted to impugn the cop's version and pounced on his tentativeness of expression, his amateurish speaking skills, compared to CRAIG's self-assurance.

HANNITY and the other loudmouth wingnuts have been screeching for years that techniques of torture are absolutely necessary for national defense, and in particular HANNITY and O’LOOFAH have defended, while ignoring the law and the evidence, the Border agents who were tried for shooting and covering up their shooting of undocumented immigrants, yet now that a cop is performing what is totally well known as “interrogation” with a stubbornly lying suspect, suddenly the cop is the one being smeared?

And it was a MILD interrogation.

The audio clearly shows a lower level cop attempting to gain dominance over an arrogant, practiced, prominent, professional orator. If it were Border agents browbeating immigrants, or cops browbeating any other lowly offender like you and me, HANNITY and the other flying monkeys would be totally defending the officers.

1. If the arrested Senator had been a Democrat, Hannity would have said
the cop was a hero.

9. Highest praise coming from CW. Kick since the opposite argument is being made on p. 1.
Claims being made that the cop is an a-hole.

7. my wingnut employer
(i know he is, and i still work for him, b/c it's so easy to wind him up and watch him bounce into the corners and get stuck)

but he's a die-hard, for example: we have a fountain soda machine that also dispenses water, and someone needed a cup of H20 and couldn't get it to work. I informed them that if you pressed the button a little to the left, it worked fine.
the boss comments to the customer: i told my wife that since we are in Chapel Hill the water flows from the Left (smirk)... the customer just looks at me, no response. So i asked the bossman, and if we were a repuglican bastion would it flow from the bathroom? The customer took his water back to his table and about 15-20 seconds later the boss asked, what did i say about the Repug water? I said 'did it flow from the "bathroom" ? and laughed.

His response was classic: THAT WAS A DEMOCRAT FROM IDAHO THAT WAS BUSTED IN THE BATHROOOM!!

so i went and picked up the paper that he buys everyday for the shop, the US WHIRLED NEWS or whatever, and flipped to the frontpage and pointed to the pic of Larry Craig, R-Idaho, and laughed some fuc*ing more.

so then he got wound up, and started bouncing into the corners again, and i left him spouting off about Lyndon Johnson, tax brackets, homosexuals, and went back to work, until he wound down again. Then i sent him home.

he probably quoted Hannity in his rewind, but i had him on ignore by then.

8. Hannity always sides with police brutality.
The officer in the airport was a pro in every way, ID'ing himself and so on to Sen. Widestance.

10. As cops go, he was pretty mild
I've seen cops really chew on people. This was pretty tame.

11. Thank you. & a young, relatively unworldly cop trying to match wits with a grizzled old professional
speaker, yakker, dissembler? It happens all the time that cops have to deal with celebrities who are professionals way out of the sophistication league of the cops.

This image from television provided by WCCO-TV, Minneapolis, Minn., shows Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Police Sgt. Dave Karsnia in Feb., 2006. Karsnia, who arrested Sen. Larry Craig, was known as a reliable student and a hard worker, and he often tried to minimize embarassment for the people he caught in bathroom stings at the airport. Rising officer netted Sen. Craig
By Joshua Freed, Associated Press Writer | August 31, 2007

MINNEAPOLIS --Sgt. Dave Karsnia shielded the men he arrested in the airport bathroom from embarrassment.

After he flashed a badge, he would point silently to the exit. When one man said his wife was waiting at a gate, Karsnia called for a citation book to spare the man a trip to the airport police station.

And when his bathroom stings netted a U.S. senator from Idaho, he even promised him, "I don't call media."

That promise -- which Karsnia seems to have kept -- didn't do Sen. Larry Craig much good.

Craig's arrest was surely the biggest of Karsnia's career, but it was only one of more than a dozen he made in the Minneapolis airport's restrooms this summer.

Just 29, his record has been that of a rising young officer. He joined the Minneapolis Airport Police in 2000 as a community services officer, just out of college. Three years later, he was named the department's Officer of the Year, and in 2005 he was promoted to sergeant. Last year, he finished his master's degree.
