Do you think he came home to a frying pan to the head?

Men had talked about wives remarrying after rescuers gave up

Meng Xianyou said: ''I told my brother, your wife is going to have to marry someone else.''

''I said, 'Right, I had been thinking about buying an apartment in town for my wife and it was going to be someone else's,''' Meng Xianchen added.

''I laughed too, I said my wife could find a rich man in Shenyang. But then I thought, I have two children and my wife is ugly, so it'd be hard for her to remarry,'' his brother joked.

2. That sense of humor probably got them through....
Though, i might agree that his wife would find it far less amusing.

6. I read that yesterday. L'edMAO.
His sense of humor is pretty funny, and probably necessary to endure what he did.

if my husband was trapped in a mine, and if they were able to reach him, I would say those things myself if it kept his spirits up. Going down into a mine, or doing any dangerous work to support your family deserves respect. Like the soldiers in combat-when you talk to your spouse-you keep it light and pleasant. They don't need to worry at a time like that.

I'd give him a frying pan all right, filled with a hot meal. Call me old fashion-but I call it respect. Would I do it every day, hell no. Respect is a two way street, and I wouldn't take it personally.

Edited to add: Hubby works hard at his day job but he is a musician. I was a bit shocked at all the women that throw themselves at him (some right in my face if they don't know me). We laugh about it. He has been on tour and visiting family so he has been away for 2 mos. When he called a few days ago, he told me he was enjoying his 'bachelor days'. I told him that I had been exercising and loosing weight and that my rings were getting loose. It took him a bit to get my gist but he got a laugh. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. We may joke, but we are very secure with each other.
