Meanwhile......
bushboy is ratcheting the Iranisevil rhetoric waaayy up. And trying his damndest to provoke Iran into some sort of action. At the same time as his speech, U.S. troops in Iran detained 8 Iranians who were in the company of 7 Iraqis, nears the Sheraton hotel. These Iranians were in Iraq to help with rebuilding power stations. The Iranians were handcuffed and blindfolded.

After several hours, the Iranians were released. Two of them were carrying diplomatic papers. Iraqi government officials vouched for the Iranians.

Iran, the BBC reported, is incensed.

We now return you to Senator Craig's tawdry tale.

1. No need to worry about making friends over there.
They plan to nuke Iran anyway.

3. He isn't directing
it soley to Mr and Mrs A, it's just as much to the Iranian gov't and the rest of the world. And as I said, he's trying to provoke Iran.

4. We ARE going to war, & the media IS using this story to cover it.
No doubt about it, only the republicans are evil enough to exploit the craig scandal and use it to drown out the impending disaster.

I'm focused. We are about to get hammered by history.

6. I'm afraid that many of us just
aren't interested, or feel so impotent about it that we don't really want to discuss it.

7. The coming war with Iran has been talked to death here.
And the scandal du jour will pass, and I'm afraid you're right, we're afraid to talk about it. Just like we're afraid to talk about the whole nine eleven horror, and the horrors that we all know are yet to come.

9. It hasn't been talked about nearly as much as whatever
scandal du jour there is. I'm just frustrated with that, and not so much interested in the scandal stuff.

10. Many here disagree that we are going to attack Iran.
I think we will, and nothing can stop it, very, very frustrating.

8. bush's speech yesterday should scare the hell out of us all.
But was barely shown on the White House media.

Timing is everything, and they have lots of nifty plans in the waning days of this administration.

12. That speech went down the memory hole in
record time. As far as a coming attack on Iran, it's the next 6 months I think, that's the critical period. If he doesn't do it by March or so, I don't he'll do it.

28. The key to all of this is..
will the U.S. military go along? Bush ran through several generals who wouldn't sign off on his plans with Iraq. It's no secret that the Pentagon has been soliciting plans for an attack on Iran for years, but the question is, have they found one that they think will work given the present state of our armed forces?

18. This is also another thing I was thinking...
but when I logged on to DU a lot of people seemed to act as though it was just another speech,. He is getting ready and they are just looking and once it happens every news station will start talking the so called left wing media will start blaming the Dems for letting it happen and the right winger will be singing bring it on!

16. I don't know, but that's not the point.
Who the fuck are we to say that Iranians can't be in Iraq. And these Iranians were specifically invited by the Iraqi gov't.

Or will he simply circumvent that altogether? We are powerless to stop this lunatic. He must be impeached.

23. We all know the answer to that one.
If the Deciderer decides that Jesus wants him to bomb Eye-ran, he'll bomb Iran. It's not like the planes and bombs 'n shit aren't there already.

22. I agree, Bush's rhetoric yesterday was abominable.
And we should pay heed to the consequences of his moronic saber-rattling.

Problem is, we've heard that an attack on Iran is inevitable, it's going to happen... and it hasn't. I've been ready for it for over a year now, after hearing from some pretty reliable sources (i.e. a 2006 New Yorker story).

Doesn't mean we shouldn't be alarmed by the stupidity, but let's get real--a bright, shiny sex scandal like this is hard to ignore.
