Atrios: The ruling classes are ALL jumping on the Maliki-Must-Go Iraq "strategy" bandwagon
:eyes:

It's so much easier to do that than actually push for a rational change in US policy, which we can (ostensibly) control:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/blogspot/bRuz/~3/148688905/2007_08_26_archive.html

And the fun continues:

BAGHDAD - Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki yesterday lashed out at U.S. and French politicians who have called on him to step down and accused U.S. forces of committing "big mistakes" in killing and detaining civilians in the hunt for insurgents.

He goes on to criticize Clinton and Levin by name. Nicely played, senators (not).

...Josh has:

Finally, unexpectedly, out of the blue even, we appear to have arrived at a grand cross-party consensus on Iraq: it's Nuri al Maliki's fault and he should be fired. Faced with the tough task of biting the bullet one way or another, pols across the partisan divide seem to have arrived at this as the one position they can get behind and push on the Sunday shows.

So we understand how truly awesome this is, the early pusher of "It's all Maliki's fault" was...

Charles Krauthammer.

2. The dummies seem to be thinking they can foist Allawi back on the scene.
What's so disconsoling about this is that it's not just neocons and Bushists but the Dem establishment types as well.

New blood is needed. New blood coursing through sharper, more flexible brains.

5. Maliki & the Iraqi Paliament aren't pleased with the Oil Deal.
Most Iraqis are not willing to turn over most of their Oil to the Western Oil Multi-Natls. This is not acceptable to the Busholini Regime & their Oil Corp. backers.

It seems that the former PM is waiting in the wings to grant the Busholini Regime what it demands.

Allawi shot prisoners in cold blood: witnesses - After Saddam ...
Iyad Allawi, the Prime Minister of Iraq, pulled a pistol and executed as many as six suspected insurgents at a Baghdad police station, just days before ...
