Worst explanation of the week: Two-year old, used diapers in a plastic bag left from a fam trip

The diapered astronaut: We can’t get our fill!

In case you missed it, the recent court hearing with Navy Capt. Lisa Nowak, the love-spurned astronaut who is accused of trying to kidnap her romantic rival, Air Force Capt.Colleen Shipman, featured a terrific explanation about the diapers found in Nowak’s car.

Nowak allegedly told police that she used the diapers during her Texas to Florida drive in order to cut down on the number of highway rest stops.

But Friday, her lawyer disputed that, giving us the most creative explanation of an embarrassing set of facts since State Rep. Bob Allen said he knocked on the stall of a public restroom to check to see if the man was OK in there because there was lightning in the area.

Lykkebak called the diaper details “the biggest lie”, saying that his client didn’t wear diapers while she was traveling cross-country to confront her romantic rival.

According to Saturday’s New York Times: “Mr. Lykkebak has argued that the diapers were left over from the family’s evacuation from Houston in Hurricane Rita nearly two years before and had nothing to do with Captain Nowak’s long drive to Florida.”
