"Students speak out against campus finances, diversity"
Freakin' annoying.

My union, which represents graduate assistants at UMass, had a rally yesterday to kick off our campaign for a new contract. In the interest of solidarity, we featured a number of undergrad speakers to talk about the administration's general lack of respect for students and workers. In a lot of ways, we all have the same issues with an administration who wants UMass to run like a business instead of an educational institution.

The campus paper picked up on the student element of the rally, and pretty much missed the point that it was a union event. Not a huge problem.

But today's headline on page 2, above the continuation from page 1, is "Students speak out against campus finances, diversity."

:eyes:

Yeah, we all got together and spoke out against diversity.

I assume people will be smart enough to see who was behind the rally and understand that it wasn't anti-diversity, but come on, who are these boneheads at the campus paper? Don't they have editors?
