Please take the time to send a quick email in support of keeping the progressive format here in San Diego.
We need your help here.

Thanks!!!

The Rumor Mill is Churning...

Send us an email at [email protected] to voice your thoughts and opinions.
KLSD thanks all of our listeners for your recent concern and support regarding rumors circulating about a possible format change with AM 1360. While various options are under consideration, we want the Progressive voice to remain heard loud and clear in San Diego. Please feel free to send us an email at [email protected] and express your thoughts and opinions. Thank you for listening and supporting your local Progressive Talk Station.

1. Rumor Mill?
Why they use the words "Rumor Mill" and The "Possible format change" is beyond me - The truth is, "The possible format change" may happen as early as next week.

The change of format has been confirmed by dependable sources -

If our local progressive people do not show up at Clear Channel, San Diego on Monday morning to protest the impending doom of KLSD and lend our support to our Morning show crew - then when it's gone you can say - "That was some rumor."

Please, progressives, liberals (whatever) -

Show up.

Bring signs.

Bring the noise.

4. Amazing how we always have to fight to keep them on the air
and sign petitions..and make phone calls..and threaten boycotts..

yet..

Never hear of similar problems befalling Rush, Hannity, et al..

Progressive radio is just a raggedy bone that Clear Channel throws us from time to time, and always keeps a hand on it, in case they feel like yanking it back..:grr:

Liberals WILL listen to right wingers, if only to get their blood pressure going..and to hear what the other side's saying, but apparently dittoheads will only listen to their brand,, Maybe radio stations think about that too,, And of course, progressives tend to like FCC regulation of the airwaves:evilgrin:

6. What's funny is local Clear Channel promotions supports the station.
Listening to Stacy this morning, he indicated the promotions department is apparently giddy with delight with the thought of a rally on Monday. (So we can expect bumper stickers?)

Poor Cliff Alpert, the station manager - he's just finishing up a week listener cruise and apparently didn't know anything was going down. I'm thinking his blackberry has probably disintegrated by now.

The whole Haele and Lazarus family will be there bright and early monday morning.

11. I remember a year or so ago...
...when ClearChannel was suddenly jumping on the AAR bandwagon, and bragging about how "progressive talk" was a viable market.

The next thing you know, ClearChannel's AAR affiliates everywhere were switching their formats to "local sports" or some other such money-loser.

:wtf:

What happened?

My guess: the 2006 elections. ClearChannel had no problems with progressive radio, as long as a) they could make money off it and b) it really had no effect. They would be quite happy with raking in the dough from a niche market that would allow that "vocal minority" of lefties out there a forum in which to bitch and moan about their lot. But when it looked as if the format might contribute to putting progressives in power (which might lead to, I don't know, a new FCC with new rules to roll back media consolidation)...well, that was threatening ClearChannel's meal ticket and could not be tolerated. That cute little liberal talk puppy was looking like it might have the makings of a pit bull...so the only thing to do was put it down and go looking for a harmless little chihuahua instead.
