x-post from economy
Thanks to Whoa_Nelly for posting this numbers on another thread. I just got off the phone with the FTC after giving them the name/phone address of the company, what my complaint was-bait switch-increase of loan rate etc. She said it would take a few years for them to get anything done, but that it WAS very important that consumers file complaints about these predatory lenders.
It did take a while to wade through all the different menu options on the phone, but I finally got to a real person. At least I had my loan documents in front of me and there in black and white on the application the box for fixed rate loan is checked...It wasn't until I got to the title company that I was told it was only fixed for two years....At least thanks to DU I did manage to sell my house last November and avoided foreclosure when my payments went up almost 50%!!!
