The John Galt Corporation of the Bronx, hired last year for the dangerous and complex job of demolishing the former Deutsche Bank building at 130 Liberty Street, where two firefighters died last Saturday, has apparently never done any work like it. Indeed, Galt does not seem to have done much of anything since it was incorporated in 1983.

Public and private records give no indication of how many employees it has, what its volume of business is or who its clients are. There are almost no accounts of any projects it has undertaken on any scale, apart from 130 Liberty Street. Court records are largely silent. Some leading construction executives in the city say they have never even heard of it.

That may not be as surprising as it seems. John Galt, it appears, is not much more than a corporate entity meant to accommodate the people and companies actually doing the demolition job at the emotionally charged and environmentally hazardous site at the edge of ground zero.

The companies and project managers who have been providing the expertise, the workers and the financing for the job are Regional Scaffolding and Hoisting Company, which is not in business to demolish skyscrapers, and former executives from Safeway Environmental Corporation, a company that was already removed from one contract at 130 Liberty because of concerns about its integrity.

Using a separate corporation to insulate the assets of a parent company from the enormous potential liabilities of demolition work is not itself unusual. And challenging construction projects in the city often have several companies come together in a joint effort.

The arrangement involving Galt — achieved after multiple companies that had bid on the Deutsche Bank contract were eliminated for one reason or another — is nonetheless odd for such a momentous job, one that is expected ultimately to cost roughly $150 million.

NEW YORK - A section of scaffolding surrounding a condemned skyscraper being dismantled at the World Trade Center site collapsed Thursday, injuring two firefighters and some construction workers, officials said. Two other firefighters died in a blaze at the same building last week.

Demolition of the former Deutsche Bank skyscraper had been suspended after Saturday's blaze, but workers on Thursday were still busy removing toxic debris from its remaining 26 stories.

The scaffolding collapsed along the side facing ground zero shortly before 2 p.m., fire department spokesman Frank Gribbon said. Two firefighters and some construction workers were injured; the extent of their injuries was not known, the department said. Further details weren't immediately available.

It was reported by the Interdisciplinary Center, a counter-terrorism think tank involving former Israeli intelligence officers, that insiders made nearly $16 million profit by short selling shares in American and United Airlines, the two airlines that suffered hijacking, and the investment firm of Morgan Stanley, which occupied 22 floors of the WTC.

Apparently none of the suspicious transactions could be traced to bin Laden because this news item quietly dropped from sight, leaving many people wondering if it tracked back to American firms or intelligence agencies.

Most of these transactions were handled primarily by Deutsche Bank-A.B.Brown, a firm which until 1998 was chaired by A. B."Buzzy" Krongard, who later became executive director of the CIA.

Probably just some fly-by-night friend of a friend of Duh-bya, with about the same stellar record in business. And the Galt corp. did just about what you'd expect a Libertarian outfit with Bushler connections would do: half-assed, lazy performance, trying to give "good 'nuff fer gov't work" a new low water mark.

An electron microscope study of WTC dust in the Deutsche Bank building found elemental, dissociated microspheres of iron, magnesium, copper etc. , the sort of thing you would expect to find if parts of the WTC steel structure were exposed to high explosives creating instantaneous temperatures of thousands of degrees.

After that electron microscope study came out, revealed to the public by the New York Environmental Law and Justice Project, the decision was made to disassemble the whole Deutsche Bank building under high security. There's a lot of embarassing evidence to destroy there!

of a cult paean to the "all-government-is-evil," "no-one-should-receive-welfare" nutcase set. You know the drill: starve the government, drown it in a bathtub, and everything will be just peachy. If you're one of the rich elite insiders, that is, and if you're not, the world is better off without you anyway.

Very interesting that this very non-neutral name is attached to the company.
