Janeane Garofolo Is Prepared To Ditch Her Liberal Politics Out Of Blind Lust For Jack Bauer Admiration For 24

Liberal maybe-lesbian Janeane Garofolo has snagged a recurring guest-starring role on the upcoming season of 24.

Reportedly, Garofolo has is pleased to have landed a role on the uber-successful Fox drama, and has said she has “no problem” working for a self-described “right-wing nut job,” (a.k.a. producer Joel Surnow).

She just has a problem voting for one.

37. Exactly... she joins a worthy crowd.
Matt Groening (the Simpsons, Futurama)
Seth McFarland (The Family Guy, American Dad)

These creative geniuses rail on fox and this administration on a regular basis and they are paid by Murdoch too.

5. Ten years ago she made a movie called..
"The Truth About Cats & Dogs" which was produced by 20th Century Fox.

The television "24" is not the first time she's worked for Murdoch.

She's very talented, and 24 is certainly a popular enough show.

7. And 20th Century Fox made Day after Tomorrow and the Simpsons Movie
Neither one of which is exactly a warm, Republican-hugging movie. Day after Tomorrow in particular.

Not to mention the season of "24" where the President is the terrorist.

Entertainment doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the politics of the owner.

10. Good God
What a load on so many levels.

First, the FOX network also produces THE SIMPSONS and FAMILY GUY.

Second, 24 is a TV show - and for what it's worth, by most accounts Kiefer Sutherland is a liberal.

Finally, I know two MEN that seriously dated Janeane. So she's also not lesbian - not that there's anything wrong with it.

Dip.

16. Contrary to the right-wing propaganda, "corporate" Hollywood is not
liberal. And if artists want to work, they have to go to the corporations.

Now, if she started spouting their propaganda, that would be a different thing.

Short of that, JG is still just fine in my book (as if my opinion matters).

19. How many of us work for corporations which donate to Repugs......
and push for much of the legislation and engage in the corporatist dominionism that we despise?

I don't fault Janeane too much for this. It's not like roles have been falling into her lap, probably in part due to her political stances.

24. Makers of "Simpsons" and "Family Guy" work for Fox Entertainment; MySpace is owned by Murdoch;
Twentieth Century Fox Studios is owned by Murdoch. He keeps political hands off of most of this -- an example is "The Simpsons," which is allowed to say anything they want. Please don't paint everyone who works at any of these companies with a broad brush. In fact, one of Murdoch's most important execs, Peter Chernin, gives tons to Democrats; the head of Fox Entertainment TV gives to Democrats. I'm afraid that for the present, Rupert Murdoch is a cross we have to bear if we want to watch Simpsons, Family Guy, see 20th Century Fox movies, use MySpace, etc.

Just how is she a "scumbag"? She's an actress who found work. Good god.

Did she warrant this vitriol when she was on the West Wing, which aired on NBC, which is owned by GE, who is a major government contractor? Are the actors for the Simpsons and Family Guy "scumbags" too? Sheesh.

26. when you work in the film business, there is a saying...
"their money spends just as well as anyone else's".

However, when I worked in commercials I refused to do ads for cigarettes and booze from european countries. They paid big bucks and it was a financial hit but I just found it really hard to work promoting those things.

Would I work for a fox company? probably not, but that's me. I don't fault her at all. A paycheck is a paycheck in freelance land.

28. Do you also have to work for a living?
Garofolo is not exactly an A-list hollywood star who can pick and choose her projects. By the way, Sutherland is a solid progressive Democrat. Go figure. 24 is hideous. I cannot even watch it for the unintentional humor any more.

Along with watching The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, etc. Janeane rocks!

If she ends up with a role where the character is something along the lines of the Presidents sister from last season, who was a champion of civil liberties - what will all of the people decrying her taking this job say then?

Their precious Jack Bauer (played by Keifer Sutherland who is by the way a Canadian and a Socialist) will have to work with Janean Garaffalo (known Liberal and former Air America Host). What Next? Jack Bauer canoodeling with Jane Fonda??

Oh this is so delicious - it must be fattening. :)
