shouldn't there be some type of political negotiations going on regarding Iraq???

shouldn't diplomats be scurrying back and forth trying to negotiate some kind of peace?

shouldn't the US be calling for ceasefires?

shouldn't we be involving the rest of the MidEast and soliciting advice??

can we do anything other than bomb the bejeezus out of the Iraqis while taunting the Iranians?????

call me crazy.....go ahead

4. Just another display of conservative values - incompetence, ignorance
and an incredible lack of compassion. today's republican party in a nutshell.

5. That is an excellent question...
...and it ought to be asked more often.

I was incensed when I heard him say, "Militarily things are going well. At a local level, there is political progress. But nationally the political progress is not happening." (paraphrased)

When we all know that there can be no military success in this mess, only a political solution. Yet Bush acts like it's all just, you know, stuff that happens. Just too bad "they" can't work it out. Nothing to do with us. Nothing we can do. Well, except to keep blowin' stuff up. And buildin' stuff (gotta keep those no-bid contractors busy).

Gad, I hate the man and everything he stands for.

7. bush would be working hard to promote a political solution in Iraq ...
... but he had to take this month to ride his bicylce around his ranch. After all, being president is hard work. He's entitled to some relaxation. :sarcasm:

8. Even during Nam there were talks. I remember they argued about
the shape and size of the table (in Paris, right?). But at least there were talks. Obama has been vilified for his desire to open up conversation with other foriegn leaders. Isn't that where it starts?

12. The Paris Peace Talks lasted five years.
They started in 1968, sputtered and stalled until 1973. And then we were run out.

9. True, wasn't that always going on regarding Vietnam?
I remember it being in the news that there were talks in Paris.

Even the Soviet Union officials and U.S. used to have meetings about WMDs.

14. because one half of his "base", the rich and the oil companies
are heartless soulless bastards who are making money hand over fist and have no interest in seeing the conflict end, until the oil contracts are signed, and the other half of his base are rabid fundies who could care less about the death and suffering of brown non-christians as long as the rapture is hastened along.
