Thomas Jefferson's thoughts on the State of the Union Address
I'm voting for any presidential candidate that returns to TJ's style of delivering the SOTU.

"The third president, Thomas Jefferson, dropped the pomp that surrounded the early messages to Congress, denouncing them as speeches "from the throne." He delivered the message to lawmakers in writing, a custom that stuck for more than a century."

1. You won't find any one who will stop the pomp of the SOTU on either side, but you can "thank" Wilson
for bringing it back--he was the first president since Jefferson to deliver the "annual message" as it was called then--to a joint session of congress.

2. Good ol' Birth of A Nation Wilson...
I tell you, he's one Democrat I've never been more ashamed of. Not only was he a fucking bigot, he also lied us into a war. Who does that remind you of?
