Deputy's wife charged in prostitution operation

FARMINGTON HILLS -- The wife of a veteran Oakland County Sheriff's deputy faces multiple counts of prostitution in what authorities describe as a long-running operation in which she allegedly advertised her services for $250 an hour through a Web site.
Christy Ann Newlin, 45, of Waterford Township, was arraigned Wednesday before Troy 52-4 District Judge William E. Bolle on charges of keeping a house of prostitution, use of a computer to commit a crime, accosting and soliciting, and use of a computer to commit prostitution. She was similarly charged before Farmington Hills District Judge Marla E. Parker, also on Wednesday, and released on personal bond in both cases pending a Monday preliminary hearing...
Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor Edward Cibor said investigators believe the activities occurred over a 12-year period. "She would advertise that she would be available three days a week for $250 an hour and appointments would be made via the Internet site," said Cibor.
Newlin used several upscale suburban motels to meet her customers and told workers there she was a pharmaceutical sales representative who would have clients visiting her at various times, Cibor said...
