The best piece of investment advice I ever received
Edited on Thu Aug-16-07 10:01 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
"Honey, if you know about it, it's way too late"

This was said to me by someone in the know whose advice I respected. In other words, by the time they are telling you/me to invest in ___________ the time for investing in fill in the blank has probably long passed. You/me/us/ are what make up the "greater fool"

1. THAT'S right! I wonce got that smae info from my broker.
I can't even remember what stock I told him I was interested in, but it was a new issue. I said I wanted to invest a whopping $1,000! He laughed and said it wasn't available to such a small investor. Pissed me off!!!!!

4. There was a variation on that after the Depression
"The day your barber gives you a hot stock tip is the day you need to sell everything because the crash is coming."

You got good advice.

There have been several experiments pitting children, little old ladies, and darts against the stock picks by the market gurus, and the gurus have lost every single one of them.

5. The best piece of investment advice I ever received:
The people you pay to manage your money are not working for you. They're working for themselves.
