What does romney mean when he talks about 'strengthening marriage'?
I know he doesn't really mean what he says, he's running for republican president after all, but what is this latest version of gay hatred now labeled, 'strengthening marriage'?

Wouldn't banning divorce and punishing adulterers be a step in the 'right' direction?

2. And
is it the federal governments job to strengthen marriage? And just how will we strengthen marriage mitt? Keep gays from getting married will strengthen my 33 year marriage? And you and your kind wonder why real patriotic Americans think you are fucking idiots and a threat to our constitution.

3. That is such a great question.
This creepy fixation on gays, by the Repubs, alomst surpasses their creepy fixation on women trying to control their reproductive health.

Vote for the GOP, the party who will make sure that sex is only allowed between a married man and woman, in the missionary position with no birth control!

6. haha
only people who don't want sex can have it....lmao...sorry I had a rough day yesterday...I'm looking for a laugh. Repubs need to face the fact gay marriage will happen sooner or later...If there church is against it then there church shouldn't perform the marriages.

I love how its not the governments job to help people loosing there homes but...hey they got to strengthen there marriages.....anyway helping people hang on to there home would strengthen there marriage....im just sayin.....making sure folks have health care, ...i think that goes miles as far strengthening families and marraiges.....oh well back to my caffeine IV.

4. Well, I think
it's a "Morning in America" type of thing. We need to have "Strengthening of Marriage" as kind of the flip side of the coin. You know: "Family Values." Some of this is hard to really explain, but you can get the true feeling by watching red, white and blue balloons at republican rallies.

5. To me, marriage would be "strengthened" by ALLOWING gays to marry.
The word "strength" is just as nebulous as the word "terror". But I suppose it makes for another repuke talking point/bumper sticker.

There are two people on this pretty blue planet who can strengthen or weaken my marriage; I'm married to one of them. You take care of your marriage and we'll take of ours. Otherwise, it's none of our freaking business what is going on with anyone else's.

30. Hey Mittens! Wanna strengthen marriage? Make sure the middle class is financially robust, they
have access to affordable medical care, and are assured that their retirement will be secure.

Oh, and BTW, most people could care less if the same-sex couple living down the block gets married or not. Because it's their business, not the governments.

37. Maybe the "defense of marriage act"
and maybe a bit of "covenant marriage" thrown in for good measure.

That would be my guess.

I bet it has nothing to do with things that would *really* strengthen marriage, like health care, maternity leave, improving employment options in the US, education, etc.

40. Yes, affordable quality day care would help a lot of people
right now, wealthy people can afford good day care, but people without money have access usually to only pretty bad day care. So some people who would work or go to school don't because they don't have a good place for their kids to stay in the meantime.
