3. Not until Friday for me
My portfolio seems to be pretty much immune to the present malaise. Once in a while I get something right.

5. I hope you are right... I fear you are wrong.
IMHO Until we know how big the losses are in the hedge funds and the mortgage industry, there is no way to bring the market back.

If the losses are as big as some suspect, the fund redemption deadlines will help flush that information out. Yesterday one of the funds stopped redemptions --in essence a run on the bank situation. That could happen across the board, and the bottom will really drop out of this stockmarket.

6. There's Other Debt Bombs Exploding As Well
Hidden behind the mortgage and sub prime collapse is the domino effect its having on other debt...especially the billions in outstanding credit card debt and the similar problems people are having in making payments on ballooning interest payments that are forcing many into either non-payment, insufficient payment or default...adding to the cash crunch and the growing mess for the lenders.

I fear this collapse hasn't hit bottom yet and more bailouts are ahead until some floor is hit. The smart money are on the sidelines or profit taking right now...and won't get back in until things stabilize. One "pundit" I heard was suggesting they may just stay out until booooshie is gone and that they're taking their money to foreign markets and funds...the ultimate hedge.

Cheers...

12. Are you fucking kidding me? Before the Fed is finished,
China won't need to act on possible US trade sanctions (due to plastic, antifreeze, lead and mercury in their exports) to cripple the dollar.

13. IF the Fed keeps injecting billions but the lenders do not resume lending? What's next?
It sure sounds like the Fed is shoring up the financial strength of the lenders, but the lenders are keeping a tight cap on new consumer lending.

That is not going to help consumers trying to buy a house, or refinance their debt.
