Question for Parents against the Draft!

What wouldn't you do to stop them from getting your son or daughter if there was a draft?

or conversely,

How far would you go to make sure your kid didn't end up dead for a stupid war of choice?

3. Very much against it.

I hold to the idea that the Viet Nam war ended the draft, not the other way around. I also hold to the theory that if we can't trust congress to get us the hell out of Iraq now, we can't trust them to craft a draft bill that the rich/powerful could not get out of. I'd rather spend my time, money, energies trying to end the Occupation than trying to end the Occupation AND the draft.

Once the draft is in place, I mean.

You see, it would never work because we would not surrender our kids and the lengths that we would go to, including fleeing the country, arming ourselves, etc. would put the lie to this thing!

I hated the 'Mean Green Fighting Machine' in general, but I worked with some fine people that taught me life lessons that have served me well for decades. My son is learning some of those same lesson directly from me.

the lessons. Did teach me some skills that I didn't have, but those didn't take long to learn and from there on out it was downhill as I am easily bored.

Also, we have an agreement in place with Canada that they will not accept Americans under those circumstances.

ONLY if a draftee has lost a parent who was fighting in the war, they won't be drafted (aside from true medical conditions, and I don't know if I'd trust that either to some degree).
