Pope Howie KURTZinger blesses sL-IMUS's return to the air
Edited on Sun Aug-12-07 10:21 AM by UTUSN
Of his panel, two, including Clarence PAIGE, who once got sL-IMUS to swear on the air he would not use racist jokes and who never got invited back on the circus, were tepidly O.K. with the return. One took a tepid non-confrontational way out, saying sL-IMUS's departure was an opportunity to find somebody younger, funnier, who would not do the dirty sL-IMUS things. Then Pope Howie issued an encyclical, saying that sL-IMUS could return because his failing(s) did not deserve "a life sentence" now that "the spring storm" of media flap over his last (now, "latest") crap "is over."

From "A Face in the Crowd" (by wingnut tool Elia KAZAN) with Andy GRIFFITH as a sL-IMUS type sleezeball, whose career is busted by an on-air exposure of his cynicism and despicable character.

Lonesome Rhodes: Listen, I'm not through yet. You know what's gonna to happen to me?

Mel Miller: Suppose I tell you exactly what's gonna happen to you. You're gonna be back in television. Only it won't be quite the same as it was before. There'll be a reasonable cooling-off period and then somebody will say: "Why don't we try him again in a inexpensive format. People's memories aren't too long." And you know, in a way, he'll be right. Some of the people will forget, and some of them won't. Oh, you'll have a show. Maybe not the best hour or, you know, top 10. Maybe not even in the top 35. But you'll have a show. It just won't be quite the same as it was before. Then a couple of new fellas will come along. And pretty soon, a lot of your fans will be flocking around them. And then one day, somebody'll ask: "Whatever happened to, a, whatshisname? You know, the one who was so big. The number-one fella a couple of years ago. He was famous. How can we forget a name like that? Oh by the way, have you seen, a, Barry Mills? I think he's the greatest thing since Will Rogers."

(Mel turns and starts to leave. Then, he turns back towards Lonesome)

Mel Miller: Beanie!

(Beanie, who is manning the automatic appalause machine, instinctively pulls the switch, unleashing a massive abundance of cheers. The machanical jubilation continues as Mel joins Marcia in the waiting elevator, leaving Lonesome alone in the empty penthouse with his broken dreams)

1. Where did Kurtz say this crap?
He is such a jerk. Sticks up for Imus and yet is always knocking Olbermann as a "Bush basher." Horrors! :scared:

2. On his CNN "media critique" show (re-hash of everything last week)
Where he and his guests criticize or weigh how the media covered this or that, which gives Mistah KURTZ the chance to RE-HASH and RE-PLAY what everybody else already did.

3. Does this mean that Joe Scarborough will be leaving MS NBC (I hope, I hope?)

4. Scarborough is not a threat. Everyone knows he is a bonehead
But we have Dems (at least people who claim to be Dems) who think the Imus circus is the best thing since sliced bread.

5. That "bonehead" had John Kerry on his show and agreed with him re: Iraq
As a paleo Conservative, he's a step above people like O'Reilly and Hannity.

7. I'll say again: sL-IMUS is an empty vessel. He has NO core beliefs. He is a carnival performer.
His "endorsements" are absurd mockeries of his audience. Just on the face of it, how would his contradictory endorsements of KERRY, and FORD Jr, and Joementum fit together?

With all that airtime for yapping, occasionally some TRUTH slips in, and he said it in 2000 when he said he was endorsing Shrub because of his potential for easy comic material for 4 years. He said it again when he said that all he wants out of his endorsements is to come out on the winning side.

The only reasons that this WEIRD idiot became a focal meeting place of all the "in" boys, was that his key demographic were White males, and that his inbred, elitist guests were SO out of touch with normal, average people across the country that they thought the "Common Man" they longed to get votes from must somehow look like this FREAK, must like a NARROW slice of "Country" music, and other such pathetic markers.

To the poster above who wonders about sL-IMUS replacing SCARBOROUGH: sL-IMUS is returning to some outlet somewhere, not to be equated with MSRNC at this point. But who knows.

9. Guess you missed Imus and his little buddies belittling Kerry and his wife at every chance?
Edited on Sun Aug-12-07 04:03 PM by NNN0LHI
And that Imus was a big Iraq war supporter before it turned to shit. I didn't forget.

6. Imus will be back.
His ratings were too good and the money the corps made off of him were too much for him to vanish and never come back. Come on, Rush Limbaugh is still on the air. Do you really think that Imus is gone for good?

8. If The Money Is Good, You're Right...
At least for now. I would imagine that after 30 plus years of doing the AM Drive grind...and it is a grind...Anus is enjoying his ranch and time off...he's got more money than he'll ever need and I suspect he's still getting a check from CBS and GE (or else we'd be hearing of a lawsuit).

I do think someday he may get bored and try a "comeback"...but rarely do second acts work. An example is The Greaseman in DC...who once ruled the airwaves there and now jumps from fringe signal to fringe signal. Another is Larry Lujack in Chicago...he tried a comeback several years ago and now the station's a black talk station. It's outta sight, outta mind when it comes to radio...when one voice vanishes, people find others to listen to and generally stay there...especially in such a high profile position. While his return would draw tons of PR and media coverage (the major reason anyone would hire him), the story would fade fast and so would the fascination.
