Plane bound for Tahiti crashes into the Pacific

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) A French Polynesian official says a plane carrying 20 people crashed into the sea after taking off from the island of Moorea for Tahiti.

I was laughing at the title of the thread which indicated that the people were flying into the ocean on their way to Tahiti.

Moorea is also in French Polynesia, so close to Tahiti that there are also ferries between the two. Auwe! :(

It's the usual way to connect through Faaa (the international airport serving Papeete on the island of Tahiti) to the resorts on Moorea ... essentially a commuter flight. (It's only about 10 miles between islands.)



14 bodies rcovered ... no survivors yet. :cry:
