George Carlin tells the truth (short video)
Peter Werbe played a beeped audio for this clip on his Sunday WRIF show and again tonight while subbing for Mike Malloy. Werbe's site http://www.peterwerbe.com/ is filled with useful links. Browse around a bit and you will learn a lot. But here is a direct link to the Carlin bit:

3. He stands as one of many in the proud tradition of Ben Franklin, Mark Twain, Will Rogers,
Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, and Garrison Keillor. Many more, but they all cut through the bullshit and the usual euphemisms and evasions and go to the heart of the matter. You'll find a lot more truth in their "jokes" than in the most erudite op-ed commentaries.

2. Sadly this is the truth.
I remember when I was a Freshman in High School and my liberal English Literature teacher told the class, "the curriculum I have been forced to teach you this year was selected by people who care more about you becoming a good little worker over having the ability to critically think." This then went into a long discussion on how class curriculum's are decided by big corporations who pay lots of money to keep the kids stupid.

It's pretty fucked up when you think about how private schools are there to create leaders and public schools are there to create workers.
