Because he is very selective about who gets access to information and this is why he can lie about terror threats in order to bully Congresspeople into making stupid decisions with their votes. As long as the information is for his eyes only, no one can effectively challenge him. But also, and more importantly, because, deep down inside, everyone suspects that Bush is insane enough to kill Americans in order to create a crisis that will increase the fear in all Americans, and make them malleable to his will.

So, the obvious conclusion is that even if there is no terror information coming from our true enemies, we believe there are enough right-wing nutjobs who think it's their duty to "Pat Tillman" the rest of us.

And the saddest thing of all, is that, like Muslim suicide bombers who are promised they'll find 40 virgins waiting for them in heaven when they do the unthinkable, the right-wing believe that no court in the country would convict them because Bush has gone way beyond the edge, and look, nothing is happening to him. He's not only in charge, he's asking for more power.

I don't see the right-wing, average Joe, going postal. I think they'll continue to make threats that they're ready for revolution, but they'll leave the real job to the professionals.
