On the recent travesty of law which was the FISA bill passage virtually all of the Senate leadership voted against the bill. The failure of leadership here was not one in which our "leaders" were on the wrong side of the bill in question, it is a failure to control the great unwashed mass of Democratic Senators who's names go unnoticed in daily political discussion.
Harry Reid, our number one man, voted against it. Jay Rockefeller, the Chairman of the concerned Committee and the one person most familiar with the bill, voted against it. If the Party's leader and the most knowledgeable professional opinion in the Senate both recommend against a bill just what justification can any other Senator offer for their affirmation of the Bill?
This is a failure of leadership at its very root. The sheep are not following the shepherd, or even the shepherd's best hound, they run off in whatever direction the wind sends them and the wolves are happy to see it.
Harry Reid should be knocking some heads and cutting off Party money to those who did not step into line on this, a most important Bill.
