I just got done chewing on the ear of one of Boswell's aides and told her sweetly that I realize that none of this is her fault but I needed to make clear the the Congressman exactly my feelings on the matter. Also let her know that in our fairly conservative area, I don't even know of a Republic who supports * anymore. Told her to tell Boswell that handing this bunch of criminals more power was not the answer, and the cowardice of the Dems who voted for this is a reflection of the their lack of confidence in the people to defend the land if truly threatened.

Also, asked that I hear from him with an explanation of his vote, although I doubted very highly that he could come up with one that is rational and pursuasive.

4. The more that speak out, the more they listen...
writer letters, make phone calls, talk to friends, send out emails are just a few of the things you can do. Tell your friends about it, tell them what to do and tell them to tell their friends.

Don't curl up in a corner. Do something. A lot of us are...the more, the better. I'm not giving up. Are you?

3. I did not.
My congresscritter is a Republican. She would neither know nor care about my opinion. But the rest of the congressional delegation from the great state of West Virginia voted the right way!

15. What's your leverage?
You call, e-mail, send letters, and you either get auto-responders, or nothing back. 9 times out of 10, your complaint is never read, its sent to the trashcan, both virtually and in reality. You can claim to hold back money for campaigns, but then again, that only has limited usefulness, most campaign money is from lobbyists and their ilk, not from you, so they won't miss that 20 bucks you aren't going to send this time around. And yet, after all that, when it comes time for you to pull that lever, push that button, fill out that circle, whatever, you still vote for the person who pissed you off so badly, claiming you will vote your conscience next time. And the reason you vote for that candidate is because of fear, when politics is about fear, there is something seriously wrong with the political system itself.

17. So just keep the same jokers in so they can
screw the nation over and over again. That sounds like a winning proposition. Doing NOTHING will get us more of the same.

25. I don't have all the answers, but we should NOT rely on the politicians....
if we are to learn anything about the 2006 election is that we can't trust 90% of the elected officials we helped elect into office. The fact of the matter is that the these are self-serving people, first and foremost, they are in it for themselves, to win elections. No more, no less. So why not actually threaten them, instead of just whining?

You don't confront a mugger by appealing to their sense of decency, you threaten them with force, if needed.

12. There's a lot of time between now and 11/08 and a lot more damage
can be done, although it's hard to see how. That has become an option for me, and one that I won't back down on until I seem some movement from legislators that makes sense.

he did exactly what the DLC wanted, that is why they poured all of their cash into his election. And believe you me, there will be more DLCers in the 2008 cycle to represent democrats than I can stomach.

It's not like Berkeley's going to elect a Rethug to replace her.

But Maxine Waters will do just fine, if she decides to run.

26. Unless you live in one of the southern states
or the several Midwest red states you can see that most of our representatives voted against the bill.

It is the republicans posing as democrats the blue dogs who voted for it.

rove was right when he said he had the numbers. He had the numbers of the blue dogs who were running as democrats instead of what they were sneaky ass republicans. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT SHOULD BE THROWN OUT IN THE NEXT ELECTION.

27. I am faxing...
Edited on Mon Aug-06-07 12:32 PM by Hell Hath No Fury
the following letter to my shit of a Sentaor Feinstein, as well as all the Dems who enabled Bush on this:

Dear Senator/Congressperson:

I would like to remind you of a statement made by Presidential candidate George W. Bush in December of 2000:

"If (America) were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, so long as I am the dictator."

This is a sentiment he repeated at least two other times in the press in the lead-up to the 2000 election. Since his election, in case you failed to notice, he has done everything in his power to make this a reality. Presidential signing statements. Illegal NSA programs. Ignoring the Geneva Conventions. Renditions. Executive privilege.

The "Decider" has spent the last six years wiping his ass daily on The United States Constitution and showing himself to be an unprincipled liar who will bypass any law or branch of government, and you vote to give him even MORE power.

SHAME. ON. YOU.

Your recent "aye" vote is a disgrace. As a lifelong Democrat, I am ashamed of you, ashamed that you would violate basic Democratic principles in such a way. Your vote was a complete disservice to the American people you claim you are trying to protect through such legislation. Thank you, but we don't need that kind of "protection".

I have some news for you: Osama Bin Laden doesn't scare me. The specter of Al Queda doesn't scare me. The horror of another attack on American soil doesn't scare me. The Unitary Executive George W. Bush? That scares the shit out of me, and so does legislative actions like yours. The enemies of liberty shouldn't be domestic, and they sure as hell shouldn't be Democrats.

Shape up. Americans like myself will remember whether you chose to enable "King George" at our expense come election day.

Hell Hath No Fury

-- I never, EVER send an email. A handwritten note, fax, or phone call is the only way to go.
