10, being metaphysically certain sweep.

1, being we are totally screwn once again.

How are you feeling this far out?

I was pretty much 8, 9, 10-ish for the first three months of 2007. Now I'm pretty much 5, 6, 7-ish.

The honeymoon is definitely over, and it seems everybody is taking a second look at the pre-nupts!!!

3. I'm at about 5 or 6 too, but the other question is,
How much good will it do us? Will they be committed to undoing the vast damage of the last 8 (or, more accurately, the last 30) years? Or would we be in for triangulation and neoconism with a human face?

4. barring shenanigans ALA FL 2000 & OH 2004 (we're only now beginning to really...
understand the depth of the fix there), OR a false flag episode, a solid 8.

8. If they make renewing our infrastructure a campaign issue.....
as opposed to sending all our $$$ to Iraq, just to have the fruits of our tax dollars blown up, I'd say a 9.5

9. Based on the early polls I can't go lower than 7
They are in damn good shape early.

But the Democrats are entirely capable of dropping it.

That's why it would be good to have some sort of legal and constitutional structure in place. But alas, some think not.

Iraq is not improving; there's not going to be a turnaround in the "surge."

The world is more volatile rather than less, this after 8 years of foreign policy "expertise."

New Orleans reminds us of the Bush administration's preference for the haves over the have-nots.

The Pukes in Congress waited too long and have finally spoken but too meakly against the presiden'ts disastrous policies, and it's going to cost them.

Several big-name Pukes will announce that they are not seeking re-election in 08 because their internal polls showing grassroots Dems whipping their sorry butts.

We have a broader, deeper cross-section of U.S. demographics in our field of candidates. The Pukes are a pack of white guys licking Reagan's coffin.

Our candidates speak better on their feet, are drawing larger crowds, are scoring higher in more diverse parts of the country. Also we have more money this time.

The best candidates the Pukes have can't win their own party's primaries. John Danforth -- hardly a liberal -- would be decimated in the Republican primaries. The more electable a Puke is, the less chance he or she has of ever winning the GOP nomination, and that spells doom for 08 Pukes no matter where they are on the ballot in 08.

10.

unless those wimps in Congress grow spines and rediscover inherent contempt, cut off funding for the war, and start impeachment proceedings against Gonzales, at the very least.

People are getting sick of those overpaid fools making nice to monsters.

24. Of course the lies still live more or less. That's not good.
Will the "war on terror" proceed? Of so, we'll still be drained as a society. And will the press become something real? Which of the dictatorial measures will be gone? And this new gargantuan "Homeland Security"? What will it morph into?

A sweep?

That would mean there would have to be an ELECTION.
Are you 100% sure we are going to have one of those "quaint" things?
I'm not.

I fear the worst is yet to come, and we ain't seen nothin' yet.

These boys are just gettin' warmed up.

30. Currently an 8 but if the grew some balls and started the impeachment hearings they would have a 10.

The Republicans are in such bad shape that even hard core Right Wingers I know say they are fed up with the direction the country is going and most likely will vote a Democratic ticket next election in the hopes of sending a message to their party and forcing some reform for the Republican Party.

It will probably take 10 years for Republicans to even get a little voter confidence back and 20 till they actually get a Presidency again. Unless Democrats totally fuck this up and go power hungry and start making stupid mistakes that will turn off Joe 6-pack and the independents.

31. Four
If the Democrats in the Senate do not change the rules and invoke the "nuclear option" -- then the radical Republicans will keep stealing the initiative by controlling the debate.

If the Democrats in the House do not vote to stop funding the occupation of Iraq, Bush will keep the initiative on the 'war'.

If the Senate does not have a strong vote for censuring Bush/Cheney ... and if the House doesn't seriously move on impeaching Gonzo -- then voters will see the Democrats as too timid to lead.

Finally, if the Democrats nominate Hillary -- then Michael Bloomberg will have a good chance of getting elected President.

Now, I think the radical Republicans are imploding (I think their candidates for president are all losers) -- if the Democrats make some BOLD, I repeat BOLD, moves, even if they are not ultimately successful, then they will be seen as offering a fresh new direction. The party leaderhsip has just got to get over this "We what to show we can govern responsibly" mindset ... the country is increasingly wanting REAL change from where we are now, not 'civil' and 'polite' and 'conservative' political rhetoric.

So, the presidency for the Dems is in jeopardy and the radical Republicans could take back the Senate because the Democrats do not provide a BOLD enough alternative. In other words, the election is the Democrats to lose.

But Congress is going home for a month and time is starting to run out.
