While looking for some heirloom seeds to plant...

with my children, I came across this:

Think this company will be getting my business.

2. I'm giving this one a try also.
And maybe I'll read up on how to properly store these seeds.

Good luck!

10. what seed law?
thanks for the info on this seed company. hopefully it's the company and not some rogue writer who's now unemployed.

it's totally alarming that there's some sort of "plant amerikan" law in iraq.

"Under the new law, Iraqi farmers must only plant seeds from "protected varieties" from international corporations"

13. The sad thing about this
is that invariably, local varieties that have been adapted to the area, resistant to local pathogens and saved for generations will be lost, possibly forever. This decreases the gene pool and increases dependence on corporate agriculture, even if, at a later date, the law is revoked.

This is not just greed, but a form of genocide.

15. Kick and Recommend
Are these the Monsanto sterile seeds? The ones that will not reproduce viable seeds for future use. Monsanto wants all farmers to have to buy seeds from them each and every year.

17. The seeds at the link are the real deal, not GMO.
Iraqi farmers are forced to buy GMO seeds now.

16. Check out this place, too:

Right in Monsanto's backyard, too!

"Our organization is saving the world’s diverse, but endangered, garden heritage for future generations by building a network of people committed to collecting, conserving and sharing heirloom seeds and plants, while educating people about the value of genetic and cultural diversity. Few gardeners comprehend the true scope of their garden heritage or how much is in immediate danger of being lost forever.

Heritage Farm, SSE’s scenic 890-acre headquarters near Decorah, Iowa, is a living museum of historic varieties. Amish carpenters have constructed an inspirational meeting area in the barn’s cathedral-like loft, and also a complex of offices and seed storage facilities that feature a magnificent oak post-and-beam frame. This unique educational center is designed to maintain and display collections of endangered food crops. Each summer an estimated 5,000 visitors tour Heritage Farm’s organic Preservation Gardens, Historic Orchard, and Ancient White Park cattle."

They're screwing with seeds? Are there no depths to which they will not sink?
