3. Keith is the best since Walter Cronkite. The voice you turn to.
I remember that through two decades it was Walter Cronkite that America turned to. Keith is not there yet, but he is doing an unbelievable job. Far better than Katie or Brian Williams or others. Drop the Paris Hilton crap, Keith. Your empathy and humanity is the closest thing to Uncle Walter in 25 years.

17. Probably a stupid question:
But what does "Red Pop toast" mean?

6. Twenty-two minutes nonstop before throwing to local affiliate
Keith is one of the only journalists on TV or radio today able to pull it off. Reminiscent of Murrow, Cronkite and the young Rather.

7. That's why he needs to dump the comedy. He should anchor NBC.
No knock at Brian Williams, but Keith's empathy tonight is a revelation, and the best I have heard since Walter.

8. He's always been like this. His coverage of similar tragedies
Edited on Wed Aug-01-07 08:15 PM by BerryBush
such as the tsunami and Katrina was similarly professional and respectful.

He was also incredible on the Pope John Paul II death watch. Spent many hours on air interviewing many experts both before it happened and afterward. His introductory spoken piece for his coverage was beautiful. You didn't have to be Catholic or a Pope fan to appreciate the respectful coverage he gave the man.

9. You can take all the knocks at Brian Williams that you like. He's earned them.
Keith's doing the breaking report on NBC too (I'm watching Last Comic Standing. It's heckler night! What could be better?)

10. Don't forget Aaron Brown
Many people give him credit for his calm professionalism on 9-11. He was amazing that day.

19. I don't particularly like the gossipy part either, but his news coverage
is so dense that he says more than many others do in several hours.

13. 3+ hours, and he's doing a great job. If my families were nearby, I'd
be glued to it because he's giving straight facts and personal accounts. Real news.

He's a real man.

Keith for Pres. I swear.

12. Paula Zahn was pathetic
She just didn't know what to say, there was no one to interview, and it was painful to watch.

14. The "Joints" Keith keeps talking about are called expansion joints
or expansion dams. Expansion joints are part of the bridge deck and not part of the structural steel that holds the bridge up. The workers were replacing the expansion joints and concrete deck on the bridge. They do that to bridges all over the country and it doesn't cause this kind of bridge collapse. I'm betting it was a structural steel failure that brought the bridge down. It looks like the structural steel that connected the arch to the pier on the end of the bridge next to the railroad failed and twisted to the left and started the chain reaction.
