Cheney's pacemaker replacement was "minor procedure", has resumed doing run-throughs of his figure skating long program.

George W. Bush accepted Jesus and Billy Graham and without any other kind of rehabilitation or step program is a completely recovered alcoholic.

==

Once again I am noticing how the media is 'reassuring' us that all is well. How can you call someone who suffered a seizure YESTERDAY and got banged up on his dock and was still in the hospital as of this morning "completely recovered", particularly since it was idiopathic in nature?

Our media are not news bringers anymore, they are cheerleaders.

17. That wasn't appropriate
Roberts is a rethuglican bastard, asshole, freak, and fucking dickheaded pigfart (among other things), but the "spit out his tongue" statement is offensive.

The whole tongue-thing with regards to seizures is a myth, even with grand-mal seizures. And Roberts didn't even *have* a grand-mal seizure.

I have epilepsy, and the public's ignorance about it causes plenty of problems. Please don't help spread such ignorance.

I know you didn't intend to spread ignorance or be offensive...this is simply meant as an FYI. :)

Peace.

They just parrot the official spin.

12. My room mate in college had a seizure
induced by medicine he was taking. Other then being shaken by the experience and fear of a recurrence, he was more or less fine the next day.

25. Many seizures go unnoticed - it's been 14 years between the public seizures
It's highly likely he's had many small seizures of which he was unaware, or which he kept secret. That means he needs to be on medication, the side-effects of which (according to a specialist quoted in the Times article) include drowsiness, irritability, mental slowness & forgetfulness. Any one of those characteristics would have a severely negative impact upon Roberts' already impaired view of justice & constitutional rights, and his ability to form impartial opinions and render fair verdicts.

From Wednesday's New York Times:
www.nytimes.com

"Doctors say a complete medical workup is needed to find out if the two reported seizures were really the only ones that have occurred, because people with epilepsy can have mild seizures that they are not aware of. Neurologists often ask family members whether patients have certain symptoms, like daydreaming or blanking out for brief intervals, and not snapping out of it when others try to speak to them. Other symptoms may include dizziness, sensations in the stomach, feelings of déjà vu or noticing odd smells or tastes in the mouth — experiences that the patient may not recognize as seizures.

Often, Dr. Barkley said, a patient will report having had one seizure, but when asked about these other symptoms will say, “Oh, yes, that happens all the time.” If such symptoms are frequent, it may sway the decision in favor of treatment.

Dr. Cynthia L. Harden, a professor of neurology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, said it would be important to perform brain-wave studies to look for abnormal electrical activity in the brain, to get an idea of where the seizures may be starting and how frequent they are. "

AT 210#, no less! AND he sauntered through a 2 1/2 hour cardiovascular workout involving flags and rifles.

which, with the exception of hotter anchorwomen, more subtle laundering of lies, and celebrity news, more closely resembles Old Soviet Journalism than anything else.

Epileptics are much more likely to report having intense mystical and religious experiences.

24. Robert Bozell (sp?) on the Nightly News did quite the balancing act...
Being a doctor, he understands the implications of this second seizure, which sound grand mal rather the petit mal in nature, and yet he's an "expert" for the war machine's network, so couldn't really expound on those implications but rather explain how it's all OK.

It was hard to watch and hard to turn away.
