Anyone Listening to Thom Hartman Now?
He is talking to one of his reporters, apparently, Pelosi and Steny are going to meet with * tonite, and also Pelosi and Steny are not in favor of the impeachment thing, and just to carry on with their agenda. Well we all know what we have to do? Keep kicking these Reps and Senators a$$es good.

3. It might be best to remove in place. In other words neuter the president.
That way we will have him to kick around though 2008, and the GOP will have to contend with having a steaming pile of shit as their leader as they campaign for reelection.

5. Yes, but...
...how do you propose to do that? Bush is still Commander-in-Chief of the military, and still has the power of the veto pen (and enough Publicans in Congress to back him up on that). Are you/they proposing a deal to let Bush remain in office on the grounds that he doesn't obstruct any Democratic moves? Like that's going to happen!

IMHO, even given your alternative, we need impeachment -- because, if Bush is able to leave office on 1/20/09 with head held high, that will essentially grant precedent to all his claims of executive power, everything from warrantless surveillance to torture to using the power of pardon or commutation to grant immunity to those doing his dirty work. If Bush is allowed to get away with these things, there will be no grounds for objecting when future Publicans in the White House do the same.

6. I believe that if it becomes apparent that a Dem will win in 2008, the
Reps would be much more agreeable about removing some of the ill gotten powers. There new powers were based on the belief in Rove's 100 years of Republican rule.
