Poll question: Should Congress go on vacation?
Considering the president has the right (and a history) to make unilateral appointments, etc while Congress is on vacation, should they recess for August?

1. I think they should. I think they should go out into the US and get ear fulls from us.
I think they need to get out of DC and go out and about and hear the real deal.

6. Hah!
They don't get many of us in the Hamptons or at $1000 a plate dinners, and those are the kinds of places our senators and representatives will be, the same as with every recess. Assuming they don't just hole up in their McMansions for a month and remain save and comfy in their cocoons.

Honestly, where do you get these crazy ideas?

2. Everyone deserves a vacation
The whole rest of the world is getting ready to go on vacation, except for the US. Insanity.

4. Yes, 'maybe' yet another week off, but a month, when this country's
in such dire need of guidance? I think they need to show how much they care by cutting it short, the House and Senate.

Here's their summer vacation schedule:

They're not GOING FISHING here. They are leaving DC for their home districts, presumably. To interact with their constituents if they're smart. If they didn't visit their home districts, the constituents would be whining that the Congresscritter never shows up.

I know my Congressman (John Hall, yay!) will be crisscrossing the district next month doing fund raisers, community work, and visiting the districts where he needs to shore up support. he is also very active in supporting local Democratic candidates--all very necessary work in a district that's just barely blue

Having said that, I think they should try to keep a quorum at the ready at all times just in case bush pulls some shenanigans, which he will likely try to do.

edited to clarify points about John Hall.
