because we sure do need him.
The field is lacking imo.

Hillary Clinton--she is the best debator but she is too polarizing
Barack Obama--I like him and he has charisma, but he, too often, shows his inexperience on the national stage.
John Edwards--I like his message but he doesn't ring true to me.
Joe Biden/Chris Dodd--Too Washington.
Richardson--At one time I thought he could be the one, but his campaign isn't going anywhere.
Kucinich/Gravel--I doubt DK will do even as well as he did in '04, as for Gravel...

Frankly, the two best candidates we could have put up in '08 aparently aren't running--Al Gore and Wes Clark.

Note: Any of the above names are head and shoulders above any of the Republicans and I will support whoever the Democrats nominate and enthusiastically.

2. He Can't Get In Soon Enough For Me
But I understand that by waiting he is avoiding much sniping.

4. Our THREE best candidates aren't running
Howard Dean promised not to run if he were elected DNC chairman,
and he will keep his word.

6. A Rebuttal...

...(and understanding, straight up, that this is not a personal back at the original poster)

In Re: Hillary Clinton–I grow weary of the lack of stones of people about Clinton. Geez, people, either you like her or you don't. If she was the only Democrat up there I'd vote for her. She may have the taint of sin but she's not evil.

In Re: Barack Obama–After GWB, inexperience shouldn't be an issue anymore. On Obama's worst day he's ten times as smart as the pResident.

In Re: John Edwards–I grow weary of the attitude that, since he's rich, he doesn't have sincere sympathy for poor folks. On the current landscape, if you're poor and you don't have rich allies you're poor and screwed. It ain't fair, but there you are.

In Re: Joe Biden–my enduring memory will be his proclaiming Fredo the "real deal". You want out of touch? This fellow has the gall to ask me, as a Democrat, to support him? Please.

In Re: Chris Dodd–Who?

In Re: Mike Gravel–I was encouraged by him until that Mike Malloy interview. Now I wouldn't vote for him for County Assessor.

Now, directly to two points the original poster made:

Frankly, the two best candidates we could have put up in '08 aparently aren't running--Al Gore and Wes Clark.

...

Note: Any of the above names are head and shoulders above any of the Republicans and I will support whoever the Democrats nominate and enthusiastically.

Truer words ere have been spoke. I'm completely down with that.

7. If Gore decides to opt out, expect an election close
enough for the r's to again steal or not even have to worry about stealing. This is what they are counting on and one of the reasons why they are so fervently pushing Hillary. With a chorus of media whores touting her as inevitable and using terms like "polished" and "amazing," it doesn't take a political science degree to see where this is heading. Once she secures the nom, expect these same pundits to turn on her with a vengeance.

Gore is the only Dem that several r's I know would support. He's the repukes worst nightmare. For that reason alone, and because the country needs a person of his stature after the Bush disaster, I hope to God he runs.

8. I feel the same way
the GOP and their cohorts in the MSM are trying to sell us on Hillary because she is the one candidate who will get out the vote for them
