While neither is my choice, I love that our party, the dems, have this diversity.

Me? I'm voting for the peace-mongering vegan (Kucinich) in the primary. However, I'll vote for the D in the runoff.

I'm just real, Real, REAL f'ing proud of how far we've come.

Wait until September, and the idiocy begins with the R-dipshit answers come out in the same forum.

Oh, yea.

They are.

3. I can't wait for the "gay marriage" question in September.
Hooooooooooo-leeeee sheeee-it. Someone better get some plastic sheeting for the front rows, cuz there's gonna be Gallagher-esque exploding "melons" coming from the stage.

11. I Prefer Calling Them "Repiglickins". "Republic" is a Form of Government
The Repiglickins do not govern (they mostly steal and engage in thuggery), and they have been doing everything they can to dismantle our Republic.

Let's not be unfair to the pigs. They haven't done anything to us.

And they're both smart. I'm glad they're in the race.

6. And, I'd not begrudging vote for either one.
They might not be perfect to me, but they're a whole helluvalot better than what the opposing bullpen has to offer.

while they may not win, both the African American and the female candidate have legitimate shots at winning the whole thing.

It's Edwards, our rich white guy, who's getting the fashion flack. He's my candidate and it's unfair to him, but OH MY GOD could you have imagined this twenty years ago????

8. It's good to see some good ol common sense on this board
It has been demoralzing, quite frankly, coming here and seeing the bickering and name calling. It has made me sad to see those of us tearing ourselves apart, so to speak, and not focusing on the common enemy. Ya know, the Republic party.

I'm like you; Clinton and Obama are not my favs in the race, but I will support our nominee to the nth degree.

Oh, thanks for the post. It cheered me up.

9. I've got a good friend here, with a sig line I think about often
It's something like, "build your candidate up, don't tear mine down"

I'm just happy to be part of a movement, a party that can embrace a black man running for Prez and a woman running for Prez. 20 years ago? No chance.

What a completely baseless, gratuitously nasty thing to say.

Particularly about Obama. He was against the Iraq War from the get-go.

it that they are in the race, and each has a real chance to win. The Republicans are still so stuck in Rich White Guy Land, it's not funny.

22. And the more "normal" it will strike people to have a woman and a black
run for President.

Several people have said that 20 years ago, this would not have happened. I think TEN years ago, it wouldn't have been possible that a Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama would be seen as SERIOUS contenders.

25. Oh, you got that right.
10 years from now, I want to see a candidate in the mix that doesn't stop at something to behold. Oh, hell no. I want her (HER!) to be a black, asian lesbian vegan diabetic, with a PhD in everything, who is pro-choice, pro-gay marriage and pro-paper ballots across the board. I know, I'm really just pig-piling issues. I just really want to see Americans take America back.

You said it perfectly... and I'll add...

I realize our candidate will probably be Clinton, perhaps Obama, but one of our candidates WILL be our next president! (unless we grow a spine and impeach, but you know, lol)

I will make sure I do everything in my power to GET US ELECTED, no matter who it is. And being a white man, I will never be prouder than to be a part of history getting a black person or a woman elected to be President of the United States of America!

Unelectable, eh repukes? PROVE IT! I call your bluff! Dem's '08!!!!!!! :P

26. Can you even imagine, as a white man
as I am, to be part of a movement, a belief that is so unexpected or unaccepted, that we can help to elect a woman or a black man to be our President of the United States.

There really is no "unelectable" in reality.

Damn if feels good to be a gangsta...uh, I mean a "dem" in these days.

31. Democrats have always respected diversity
Good point. I think Hillary made that point too and I hope a good number of white rich Republicans were watching and thinking 'maybe the same old shit with our party just won't cut it anymore'. The diveristy on that stage was a great symbol of what the Democrats respect and believe in. We are a diverse and open-minded group. Power to the Democrats.. Take back the White House and stay there!

The Greedy Oil Party has had some token candidates (Elizabeth Dole, Alan Keyes), but the Democrats have real contenders that run because of their qualifications and not as all the white freepers "one friend that's black."
