Today is last day for Divine Strake comments

Today is the last day to provide public comment on the draft of the revised environmental assessment of the Divine Strake test.

Divine Strake is the name of a proposed test to detonate 700 tons of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil at the Nevada Test Site.

The test is being put together by the National Nuclear Security Administration – Nevada Site Office.

I'll be happy to write, but I have no idea of what to say beyond, "No! Don't do it!" Is there any group or website that has an ongoing campaign against this test that might have suggestions for a more articulate argument?

Just the name, "Divine Strake", seems so utterly and unconscionably EVIL to me, it honestly leaves me speechless.

Please add my name to the list of hundreds of thousands of Utahns and other residents of the Rocky Mountain West who oppose the planned 'Divine Strake' weapons test.

I believe the risk of exposing another generation of families to radioactive fallout is far too great and is a direct threat to the public's health and well-being.

I am also concerned 'Divine Strake' violates current EPA standards for environmental air quality and request that a detailed environmental impact study be completed before any future testing at the Nevada test site.

This test -- to be conducted at the taxpayer's expense -- is detrimental to those same taxpayer's health. The fallout from this potential course of action has deadly ramifications. I do not sanction this event, and suggest that the severity of health problems emanating from such a test, do NOT benefit the American people. Do not subject the people funding the DOE to this "experiment". We, as a people, deserve better consideration from our government.
