Response from my rep Ellen Tauscher re: Inherent Contempt
Dear Mrs. ******** :

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns about the President and the Vice President. I have reviewed your comments, and I am glad to take this opportunity to share my views.

As you may know, the Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach. To determine if an official is to stand trial for a crime, impeachment proceedings must first be voted on by the House of Representatives. If the official is charged with a high crime or misdemeanor by the House, then the Senate will act to convict or acq uit. Although several organizations have called for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney , Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced in May of 2006 that a Democratically controlled House would not initiate impeachment proceedings in the 110 th Congress. Therefore, it is unlikely that this issue will come up for consideration.

Like you, I am deeply concerned by the Bush Administration's actions - notably, that it may have intentionally misled the American public and Congr ess about the threat of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq . The President and his administration have flouted Constitutional protections and judicial oversight, treating these safeguards as outdated inconveniences in the war on terrorism.

You'll be pleased to know that I co-sponsored two bills during the 109 th Congress which would have had the House of Representatives investigate the Bush Administration's role in exaggerating intelligence. H.R. 505 would require the President and the Secret ary of State to transfer all documents, e-mails, and communications relating to the White House Iraq Information Group to the House of Representatives. H.R. 363 would compel the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Defense, the Director of the Central Inte lligence Agency, and the Attorney General to provide the House of Representatives with all the documents in their respective agencies' possession which relate to the disclosure of the identity and employment of Valerie Plame .

As our country moves forward, be assured that I will continue to push for a full examination of the facts to ascertain wrongdoing by the Administration and give the American people the answers they deserve.

Correspondence from constituents like you is essential to my work in Congress, and I hope that you will continue to inform me of your concerns. I value your input as I work to shape national policies to reflect the views of California 's 10 th District. To keep abreast of my work, please visit my website www.house.gov/tauscher to sign up for my newsletter, e- tauscher . If I can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact my office at 925-932-8899 or 202-225-1880.

15. Actually, you do live in the with us or against us world.
You've got it completely backwards. You only defend Pelosi because she's on your team. Are you really unable to see yourself?

20. Don't think so. Has there never been a politican who hasn't made a statement on an issue and then
changed their stance? Why has her office been taking comments about impeachment for months?

24. By "crap," do you mean TRUTH? The truth is scary stuff isn't it?
It's scary that you're supporting a woman who is killing more people every day. It's scary that you're supporting a woman who is torturing more people every day. It's scary supporting a woman who is relieving more Americans of our rights every day.

And all because she has a D after her name.

Good thinking! You're a great Democrat!

7. Do you really think that the person who gain the most from impeaching both Bush and Cheney should
lead the charge? If you have Democratic representatives, you should be hounding them to form a committee and visit with Nancy to propose impeachment.

4. Nancy is in a bad spot and it will get worse until she moves on this.
Nancy is not the enemy, imho, by any stretch. But she does need our feedback and I hope DUers who agree with me that we need to impeach these felons will take every opportunity to let her know that.

8. So why hasn't Tauscher reintroduced those bills in THIS Congress
She cites what she did last year when there was no chance the House, with a repub majority, would pass her bills. So why hasn't she introduced those bills this year?

18. It was a phone call
I can't be sure her aide passed on the exact words "Inherent Contempt"

I did repeat it and mentioned John Dean telling us about the tool .

 Tauscher isn't bad could be much worse IMO, she is one of the
70 reps to sign the letter stating they will only vote for money to
bring the troops home .

Nothing was mentioned about inherent contempt in her response. I'm glad someone else picked up on that.

14. I got the same kind of double-talk crap from A. Schwartz (PA-13).
They are ever-so-concerned and really do want to investigate. But they just cannot do it because:

1) bullshit reason
2) bullshit reason
3) yet another bullshit reason

Unless they do their duty, they deserve to lose their office,
