A "lively experiment". . .". . .We can heal our planet"
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 02:18 PM by stellanoir
In just shy of 18 hours, an unprecedented experiment in consciousness will occur.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yA1t-nyA0v4

http://www.firethegrid.com

If ya hadn't noticed, a sea change is occurring. . .

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

. . ."Sicko". . ."Live Earth". . .Scooter skating. . .Impeachment and abandonment of *'s not so excellent utterly sadistic Iraq adventure is at long last, finally entering the national dialogue, and thoroughly enhanced by Moyer's (scathing ) Journal last week.

http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/07132007/watch.html

Just an hour of your time is required. No money. No hustle. No jive. 'Tis truly worth at least a try for all our kids IMHO.

Here are a few ways in which I intend to focus during that time period. You do as you like.

2. Visualize the planet bathed in a regal violet-purple light at least
momentarily once daily.

(Violet-"Purple rain, purple""reign". . . : )

It can be that simple and easy for those who are unaccustomed to routine
visualization. For reasons I'll explain in far greater specificity in
a subsequent version, violet-purple rays of transmutational light will
gently wake up several sleeping souls and solve problems, ages old in
many places and will ameliorate even circumstances most dire. Focusing
on regions most conflicted (D.C., the MidEast, Iraq. the Gulf Coast ,
and the entire continent of Africa. . .etc) will help as well.

(For those of earthier orientations who unlike many spiritualists,
don't necessarily resonate with the violet-purple vibration, another
alternative suggested by a differing source would be to project a
vibrant green around the globe. That color will most likely hasten the
healing of our woefully damaged ecosystems and many sad and bleeding
hearts as well. )

snip

4. Figuring eight whenever you sense imbalances, and/or once daily for just
a minute or two. Here's how one can do that. . .

"Nineteen years ago I was guided to raise my hands over my head and
envision my spiritual source. In a similar manner, I have also drawn
down specific planetary and solar and lunar energies at various times,
as well. I visualize energy descending through my left arm and crossing
over to the right side of my body between the nape of my neck (where
central nervous system wiring switches over from one side to the other)
and my heart chakra. Then the energy goes down through my right side and
through my right leg down to the center of the earth where it merges
miraculously with Gaia, and then loops back up returning to earth's
surface then travels up my left leg up the left side of my body crossing
over to right side. Again it passes between my heart chakra, and the
nape of my neck, and then goes out my right arm returning to my
spiritual source. Over time and with a modicum of practice it scarcely
takes a nanosecond to enact but has greater effect if simply sustained
for a moment or two.

Energetically it balances higher and lower energies. It can be useful
for many who feel disconnected, stressed, or concerned about the
apparent extreme imbalances between potential and form, of which Gaia
appears to be processing and releasing now at an unprecedented rate.
Whenever in doubt, maybe go figure 8.

In my heart and soul, I know that if enough true souls practice this
when spirit moves them to do so, many of the the severe earth changes
and extreme weather conditions, and their awful, and most harrowing
repercussions that have occurred, are still expected over the next few
years will be mollified, and conditions of suffering and hardship on the
planet will be ameliorated more expediently, and far more gently than
they would be otherwise if a plethora of true souls would not do so.
It's as simple as that run on sentence suggests. : )"

A suggested prayer. . .

"We are creating with spirit, a profound and lasting healing for our planet. We are creating with spirit, that all those in positions of power who put self interest above the greater planetary good, be exposed as being so and lose all of their power. . . pronto. We are creating with spirit, that the media start fulfilling their intended rolls as truth tellers instead of being habitually deceitful and highly paid sycophants. We are creating with spirit, gradual purification of our planet of all toxins and all short sighted misguidedness. We are creating with spirit that Pelosi remembers her oath to uphold the Constitution far beyond partisan strategizing. We are creating with spirit, greater awareness that there is more that truly unites us as human beings than that which divides us and that divide and conquer is a totally pointless and destructive yawn fest.

We are creating with spirit, a lasting peace on earth."

Oh I'm also gonna garden a bit. Beautification only helps.

For those who missed it. . .

If you've a suggestion for editing please do so as the editing period allows.

Thanks but with this degree of illegality, I really want forced multiple resignations. Silly me.

2. But will it stop the corporate madness and greed?
Because even more than each of as separate beings, who daily make small changes in our lives to reduce our personal carbon footprint, it is the corporations that are killing our planet at an unprecedented rate, and there is no individual human way to stop these groups that seek to suck the life out of our earth, with no mind to the present or future welfare of generations.

Without putting these corporations into check, the reality is they will eat our planet until even they can no longer hide within their monetary wealth.

18. Mine is a true story too. After Bush took over, I was terrified and angry.
I knew I had to either start a spiritual search or get into therapy. :)
I did the former and have not regretted it one bit.

I read and read and finally found something I had never had before.
A belief that there is something more to life then just being born and dying.

Even if I am wrong it has saved me from despair over what has happened
to this country and this world.

(Besides, having a spiritual core is the most fun in the world.
I love it.)

21. I have a spiritual core
Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 04:31 PM by Whoa_Nelly
It's just not rooted in Christian-Judeo, or any other organized, doctrine or traditions.

One doesn't have to have a belief in God, or the existence of any god, to have spirituality.

26. Same here........ the spiritual core is within.
If there is a higher power, I view it all cautiously.
If there is a God I am very independent and I will be no one's dancing bear,
in this life or the next.

That said, I do admit that there appears to be be some sort of higher energy
on some other plane. I love to read quantum physicists as they
talk about the probability of other dimensions. Could this be
what we think of as "God." ?

It has been enormously fun and fulfilling to ask these kind of questions and
get lots of different answers.

But really it doesn't matter to me whether there is a God or not.
My sense of right and wrong remains the same whether there is an afterlife or not. That is my core. To do the right thing no matter what.

And as my husband points out, before I found a spirituality I was a depressed neurotic. Now he calls me a happy psychotic. :)

Guess I bette find out what all this Fire the Grid talk is about.
Sounds interesting.

100. The Core
(That obscure classic)

The Core

By eric clapton and marcy levy

Every morning when I wake, a feeling soon begins to overtake me.
Ringing in my ears resounds through my brain; it finally surrounds me.
There is fire, there is life, there is passion, fever and fury.
There is love and there is hate, there is longing, anger and worry.

Oh, I am a flame; feel it touch my heart.
And down at my core is the hottest part.
I can run without fear.

If it should become too cold, I know I can endure the frostbite.
Oh, a blanket then Ill wrap around me; I keep myself so close to my sight.
No one then can cause me harm, just as the river runs into the sea.
cause every day, a fire alarm is deafening the silence all around me.

Chorus

It is burning.
It is burning.

You can trust me; we can laugh. together we can share our sorrow.
I will give you secrets too, an attitude that you may borrow.
Gypsy woman said to me, one thing you must bear in your mind:
You are young and you are free, but damned if youre deceased in your own lifetime.

Oh, you have a flame; feel it in your heart.
And down at the core is the hottest part.
We can run without fear.

It is burning.
It is burning.

on edit-I just read your post to dear cass. I've not a lot of use for traditional theology either. I always say "Humor is my religion. Everyone has free access to that. Perhaps if we all learned a joke in every religion, wars would cease. No one ever killed anyone over a bad joke." I do believe in a creative unifying force though. I refer to it as the "Creatrix" because it's playful and non gender specific.

It's about love and laughter really.

Our 20-yr-old will be catching a plane at dawn tomorrow morning to go to Central America and work on sea turtle conservation.
On the way home, we're picking up a friend and heading to a local beach to participate.

I'd heard about Fire the Grid a few weeks ago but just passed it off as another flakey, new-age, roll-your-eyes, you've-got-to-be-kidding sort of thing.
Then, on Saturday morning, a bunch of us watched all 8 YouTube videos that begin with this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqUAluDvuU4 . It's an interview with Shelley Yates. And no matter how you feel about light beings giving people messages from beyond the grave, this woman is telling her own truth and is completely convincing.

And heck! What better way to send your kid off to save Mother Earth, than to make your own little effort, eh?

Somethin' like. . ."We are creating with spirit that members of the judiciary be mindful that their allegiance is to that of the Constitution and the rule of law, and not the selfish pleasure of some small minded unenlightened narcissist who hasn't a flopping clue."

Would that have been too extreme. . .?

Hi All, I was planning on doing this tomorrow, but I do not feel good about it...something or someone is telling me "no, do not do this". I may be feeling something sinister is going to happen with our energy. I don't mean that we ourselves are sinister, but I feel that our good intentions could be used or manipulated for the bad.

I know that I need to go with my intuition, and it is saying the cause is a nobel one, but will be used for dark purposes.

no body can mess with it in the grander scheme of things.

Yet I understand skepticism well, we can't allow it to be a "self defeating prophesy."

Then perhaps, we will have truly given away our power and strength out of fear.

I just got an earworm of "Can't Touch This." Now I'll have that bass line reverberating and echoing in my cranium for a while.

transmute or subvert the energy in any way I would think.

And with so many intuitives on the project it would
become quickly apparent if there was something afoot.

That said I think everyone needs to follow his or her inner wisdom

Dimensions are just mathematical conveniences for describing degrees of freedom. They aren't mystical spooky other-worldly places where the success or failure of something like "firing the grid" can conveniently escape clear meaning or determination.

As a citizen in a free and democratic society, however, there are indeed things I need to be prepared to tolerate if I take the notion of freedom sincerely. First of all, I'd better understand that freedom and democracy are not the same thing, and that I won't always get what I want even when I'm in the majority. As a free society must be vigilant against the tyranny of the majority,

citizens of a free society must be prepared to be tolerant of speech they don't like, artistic expressions they don't like, and private behaviors of which they disapprove, unless they can clearly demonstrate how the exercise of such freedoms limits their own exercise of an equal degree of freedom or demonstrate a very solid case for direct harm or great risk to the general public welfare.

...when "something" is so, so very open to interpretation.

I'll bet that nothing clearly different happens. I'll bet that every good thing that does happen, even if it might have or would have happened anyway will be attributed to "firing the grid". I'll bet that all of the bad things that happen during and after will not be taken into account as possible signs of failure, but excused one way or another.

And I'll bet that my skepticism will be blamed by the disappointed, those who have high hopes which will not be met, as a reason that their great expectations were not realized.

Pregnant on a Prayer?

A new study suggests prayer helps women become pregnant, but some question whether the cause is really God.

by Cindy Kuzma

Printer Friendly Version

A controversial new study indicates that prayer may help in vitro fertilizations become successful pregnanciesand no ones more surprised than the researchers themselves.

According to the September issue of the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, the research team did not anticipate proving the power of prayer. In planning and conducting this trial in as rigorous a fashion as possible, we set out with the expectation that we would show no benefit of intercessory prayer, wrote the research team led by Rogerio Lobo, chairman of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia Universitys College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York.

Despite positive results, the researchers still have not shown any such benefit, says observer Harold Koenig, associate professor of psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, and a leading researcher on spirituality and health. Koenig says that like other double-blind studies of intercessory prayerstudies where neither the researchers nor the participants know who is being prayed forthe study has severe scientific and theological flaws. Its about sending ones thoughts over space and time, Koenig says: thats not prayer.

The study was not funded by any religious groups, nor did the researchers seek religious guidance at any point in the process. Researchers eliminated the placebo effect by ensuring that none of the womenwho were participating in an in vitro fertilization (IVF) programor their physicians knew that an experiment was being conducted. The people praying were on a separate continent from the patients and received only photos of the women, with no personal information included.

Women who were prayed for had a 50 percent pregnancy rate, compared with 26 percent of women with no intercessory prayer. The 50 percent pregnancy rate was significantly higher than the success rate for the entire IVF programwhich was also close to 26 percentand the previous years rate of 32.8 percent.

I found this line interesting:
Its about sending ones thoughts over space and time, Koenig says: thats not prayer.

Personally, I think that that is exactly what prayer is. But whatever you call it, it is what will go on tomorrow morning.

125. Shame on you.
That was not a blind study, every subject was told about the experiment. The article itself gave a possible explanation for the psychological effects from informing the patients of the experiment. Do you have any blind studies? The piece I referenced was a blind study. In fact, it was undertaken with the purpose of disputing any prayer advocates, and it had the opposite result. So far it's prayer 1 - skeptics 0.

If you are referring to the study published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine in the article you linked to in your original post, it's been thoroughly discredited. The lead researcher didn't even know about the study until after it was completed! If nothing else, the reputation of both Columbia University and the Journal of Reproductive Medicine took a big hit. Oh, and Koenig's still fishing. Nice try, though.

184. Hmmm...
A Time magazine opinion column, that has no solid evidence that there is fraud in the study? Only one person "cast doubt on it's authenticity"? That's not very strong. Do you wish to convince me, or just raise doubts? Dr. Lobo, from Columbia University, did "review and edit" the report, and is not quoted as casting doubt on it.

The author of the column sums it up nicely when he says: "Both institutions might yet be able to save face by co-sponsoring a legitimate intercessory prayer study, this one with proper controls and conducted by researchers who have no preconceived notions. While I have no doubts about the outcome...."

Let me clear that up for anyone who doesn't catch the significance. The author is unwilling to accept any outcome but his desired one, and he assumes that any study done will back him up. That is not scientific, and does not give me confidence in his assertions.

If you show me solid refutation of the study, I am willing to receive it with an open mind.

190. Okay, here's the last one from Bruce Flamm
http://www.csicop.org/si/2004-09/miracle-study.html

The fundamental problem with the study is that no one involved will answer any questions about how the study was conducted, no one has managed to replicated it (let along figure out what the hell they were actually testing), and most damaging of all, one of the authors is in jail for fraud. Sorry, but there's a difference between being open minded and being incredulous. Of course, you're free to keep an open mind, but what you are not free to do is suggest that the study in question even remotely comes close to being a scientific confirmation of the power of prayer.

193. I know someone convicted of fraud.
She also survived inoperable cancer with dietary changes and prayer. She wrote a book about it, called "When Hope Never Dies". The fraud charge does not alter the facts of her recovery from cancer. The fraud charge of one of the authors of this study does suggest a lack of credibility on his part, but it doesn't automatically prove the study wrong. The fact that the authors won't answer questions about their study makes me wonder if your Time magazine writer and his blustery source were the ones asking. Flamm said he didn't like their methodology, but from what I saw it was fine. Perhaps Flamm prefers the first study you linked to, where the patients were informed of the study? I wouldn't try to explain myself to anybody who came at me with a chip on his shoulder. I don't see Flamm's concerns as being that damning.

I know enough about science to know that seldom is anything 100% certain. Look at the study I cited another way. It has been demonstrated that prayer only works half the time. And half of that is what would be expected without prayer. But psychology if full of areas that would be called "very promising" if they worked half the time. If prayer could raise the survival rate of some disease by a few percent it should be practiced everywhere. In fact, nurses and medical personnel can get continuing education credit for learning Reiki. You might want to look that up, and see if your certainty about the uselessness of prayer gets a little chink in it. Well, maybe not you, but maybe someone who is interested in this debate and willing to examine both sides.

Go ahead and say that you don't trust this study. Go ahead and say that there is at least one person who disputes it. But please don't state that these things are definitive. It's telling to me that you have nobody else that disputes the study besides Flamm. You made your case, I made mine, neither one convinced the other. That is the current state as I see it, and I'm happy to leave it at that.

Regardless of whatever you may believe...what can be harmed by sending loving healing thoughts to the planet who supports your life, right? Even a mere appreciation at teh designated time only adds to the uplifting....

116. I Have read through Most Of This Thread

And while I understand that many see this this as a useless exercise, I see no harm in spending an hour in solidarity with a lot of other people focusing on a goal of peace and healing. It may have little or no effect in the sense of making some "energy shift" or raising some sort of spiritual effect, but each person who dedicates themselves to focusing on these things for a brief time will most likely have some personal effect on them, if only in the invigoration of a commitment to do further action. If one dedicates some time contemplating a problem or looking for answers within themselves regarding things, I think the worst that could happen is a renewed dedication to finding real solutions and affirming a commitment to action.

I agree that if this is all one does, it will not be effective, but I also think that committing oneself to something as simple as this can "re-fire" ones dedication to making a real difference. That would be worth it, in itself...

I'm in!!!

140. I'm with you -- there's a corralary to this -- that all political action is also ritual
gathering large numbers of people for a political action (direct action, demonstration, protest) is quite powerful and (forgive the language) it's necessary to "ground that energy" during the course of the event. in other words, don't leave the people hanging -- send them off with a sense of groundedness. in this way, a political event should always a beginning, middle and end where you "raise energy, breathe life into the energy/idea, and ground the energy" so that practical work can continue on a higher level after the crowd leaves.

in other words, political action works on two levels -- the immediate communicating truth to power and there's the personal journey. i think that it's just as important to be mindful of the personal as the political so that we don't burn-out. an exhausted, demoralized activist does no one any good.

okay, i'm clicking off my old hippie lever -- :) -- back to normal.

"Joining the Fire the Grid meditation anytime.

This is from Allison Rae, and makes sense:

"The higher dimensional frequencies accessed during a planetary meditation like this exist outside time and space, so you don't really need to do it at the exact time suggested if it's not convenient for you. If you decide to participate, sit with it and find out when it's best for YOU to connect with the energy and intention of this event.""

I borrowed this from Metta and agree with it. Though the simultaneous focus had great merit for stabilization of intent for sure.

This is an example of making sense?

I woke up this morning having a strange dream that I was at a movie theater that was serving, as snack food along with the popcorn, Indian food -- lots of really good curry dishes -- and steamed clams that had pairs of little googly eyes stuck to the shells.

That made about as much sense. What it psychic feedback from the firing of the grid? :)

Being part of the universal order involves aligning yourself with the vibrations of the cosmic clock, and using the minds innate comprehension of quantum states to achieve the universal cosmic vibration frequency. The Great Elders knew that the natural being of decay can only be delayed by joining the river of cosmic energy, and surrendering mind and spirit to its tides. The collective energy of the minds eye of the human consciousness directs us, but we can only use the one true sight if we elevate ourselves through meditation and understanding of the Ocular Vein paradigm, that can come when humankind achieves an Aquarian polyeiessence.

145. This makes sense to me:
The concept of "first, do no harm."

Meditation does no one harm. People taking some time out to devote an hour or so of their lives focusing on peace, on love, on healing, on joy...

These things do no harm. The best that people are capable of spring from them.

Negative attitudes DO concrete harm all the time. Hate, fear, bigotry, polarization, greed, power-mongering, aggression...they all spring from negative attitudes.

Whether you, personally, like to meditate or not, whether you think spending some time focused on the BEST instead of the WORST humanity is capable of is worth your time, or not...

is it really worth your time to judge? Are there not more pressing, actually HARMFUL things people are doing that you could turn your attention to?

Focusing on the positive is one way of "being" the change we want to see.

What are you "being" today?

Peace.

183. "Firing the grid" does not equal "meditation"
"Firing the grid", and believing in the whole background story any the efficacy of all of these ritual observations entails much, much more than merely meditating.

Why try to reduce it to a simple matter of meditation and pretend I'm somehow assaulting meditation?

Negative attitudes DO concrete harm all the time. Hate, fear, bigotry, polarization, greed, power-mongering, aggression...they all spring from negative attitudes.

I have a negative attitude toward the Bush Administration. Channeling that negative attitude into action (like volunteering to help out with the election of my new Dem. Rep.) had (although it was a tiny, tiny contribution) a positive effect. You might try to fudge this by trying to say something like "I turned a positive into a negative" or some other sort of hand-waving, but that would be to discount the true primacy of my negative motivation.

Some people voted for Bush with genuinely positive attitudes at heart for how that would turn out. The results? Not so good.

The relationship between positive attitudes and positive results, negative attitudes and negative results, is loose at best and highly situational. Yet to hear some people talk about these things, they confidently pronounce this overly simplistic connection between attitudes and results as if it were a law of physics, as dependable as a flow of electrons from negative to positive.

is it really worth your time to judge? Are there not more pressing, actually HARMFUL things people are doing that you could turn your attention to?

Is it really worth your time to judge the judging you think I'm doing? Figure out why you're commenting on me, and I think you'll have a clue as to why I'm making my comments.

What are you "being" today?

186. I believe that the call
was to spend an hour in prayer, meditation, or whatever activity brings you joy. Again...how does that do any harm?

"Hating" the opposition, instead of just opposing them, DOES do harm. It feeds the polarization that keeps us from moving forward. In my opinion, of course.

I can take action against what I oppose, and for what I support, without hate. More effectively, because it's better for my physical, mental, and emotional health. I understand your point, though, because it is tempting, sometimes, to give in to hate. I just don't find it productive in the long run.

No, it certainly isn't a good use of my time to judge the judging you are doing, lol. I'm not commenting ON you, I commenting TO you.

May you spend an hour sometime tonight or tomorrow engaged in something that brings you simple, uncomplicated joy, unstained by hate or aggression.

Whatever that is.

Peace.

136. Dear Stella, thanks for putting this out there. And thanks
to those who participated in this effort. Out in my garden at the designated time, I gave thanks to the bees who pollinate, the birds who perform pest control (and a small amount of fertilization), the bugs who feed the birds, the bean, pepper, tomato, squash, and okra plants for nourishing my family and friends, and to the cats and dog whose company I always enjoy. I gave thanks to our Earth Mother for giving her body to sustain us, even though we've poisoned her to the point of frailty. I felt an overwhelming sense of peace and love while I was picking beans, and for some reason, kept hearing the the old hymn It is Well With My Soul.

Peace and love to all, and and especially big hug to Stella!

155. That's the 20 Brazilian dollar question.
It depends entirely on how many people remain dedicated to make a difference on a practical and on a spiritual level.

If the evidence supports the claim then there is possible validity to it. But what if there is no difference? Do you relinquish your position if no difference is made? Do you discard your theory if it does not prove to hold water?

I am not trying to be cruel or dismiss this project and its effort out of hand. I am merely trying to gauge whether it does anything. My current expectations are that it raises awareness of the problem. That will do some good. But I worry that it presents itself as the solution and I do not think it is.

but an integral one.

You won't believe this either but I've felt since I was a kid that I've been waiting for these times for 5000 frigging years.

Relinquish what position. . .?. . .that of relentless optimism. . .hell no.

Believe me, I've fallen for every cosmic carrot in the book.

Still my core beliefs are unflappable.

They will remain so.

Till humanity collectively grows up I'll keep promoting this sort of stuff.

For free, free, free. . .and at sometimes exacting expense.

I feel we've had a amazingly fantastic experience.

One that will help over time.

I see it as positive. But as you point out you have fallen for every cosmic carrot in the book. I prefer to look for methods of making things better that are more predictable and usable. We both share a goal but differ in the means of achieving it. Keep that in mind as we quibble about the mechanisms to get things done.

147. The problem with this is it is not lively
Or rather it is not active. While it does raise awareness of the problems we face it offers a solution that is counter productive. Note that no where in the project does it suggest you do anything but love the planet for an hour. It proposes this as the solution. This gives many of the people involved the sense they that they have done something to make a difference when in fact they simply sat in their house (or where ever) and thought nice thoughts about the planet.

The planet needs action. Not inaction. The planet needs hands not hearts.

150. Why do you not see the connection? Inner work can often be a fantastic motivator for
redemptive action.

In no way is it meant to encourage complacency on more practical levels.

Spiritual work motivates many people into more good deeds. The two are in NO way mutually exclusive.

152. Look closer
As I said raising awareness is a good cause. But with that awareness course of action is needed. And that is where this project becomes problematic.

It believes it is the answer. It says no further action is needed. It says all you have to do is spend one hour and you will heal the planet. Thats it. Your done. End of job. No more worries.

I trust you do not believe that. Its going to take work. If the project had championed the love in and work I would be all for it. Nothing motivates like love and compassion. Knowledge alone is not enough. People have to feel the problem as well.

154. No one suggested that in one hour we could ameliorate all the problems on
the planet through consciousness alone.

There is no singular remedy. But a unification of spirit and love, consciousness, and intent may lend many greater strength and motivation to act.

One thing may lead to another.

It's simply a jump start.

157. You didn't read the website then
The originator of this project believes that the problem is this grid is dying because the heart of the planet is dying. She believes that by infusing it with the energy of people that it will be restarted. She is not talking in metaphors. She means it. And that is what the project was dedicated to.

No place on her site did it tell anyone to go plant a tree. No place on her site does it say clean the environment. No place on her site are any actions suggested other than thinking good thoughts about the planet.

You obviously see the need for action. But this project does not.

168. Come on be honest
You know the originator of the project believed that a special energy was supposed to be put into the earth and cause it to heal on its own. She said it over and over again. There is nothing to suggest in her writings that she expects one thing to lead to another.

You and I both share the hope that the awareness leads to action which will make the difference. You personally hope that in addition to that something of the energy will make a difference as well. But I trust we both realize that hope without effort is not going to get the job done.

171. She as I were merely trying to encourage folks to focus.
She has an update on her site gathering peoples experiences and will proceed further in September.

All healings are incremental. It's never like flipping a switch.

People who've spent a lot of time on this realize that.

You keep hammering home this "hope without effort" premise which is totally unfounded.

Inner work for some inspires outer work.

Again they are not mutually exclusive.

They may even be . . .dare I say. . .interrelated. . .?

177. That's right: they're not mutually exclusive.
And most of us have long been involved in activities that will bring better health to our planet, whether it be planting trees, working with environmental action groups, doing roadside cleanups and river projects, helping raising awareness of the need for this kind of action, or meditating and praying to try to bring light to the darkness.

I watched all of the videos on YouTube and Shelley said several times that this will be the impetus to begin a focus on providing clean water, nutritious food, and a safe place to sleep for all the children of the world. She said "it will begin with the children." There is a group of people who are forming (have formed) a council to start working gathering the funds to make this happen. She might have even mentioned the name of the council. I need to go back and watch it again. "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin in me...."

172. I think you are worrying too much about other's motivations and actions.
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 04:09 PM by Big Blue Marble
I can assure you that the millions who participated in this astounding communication with each other and with our mother earth
are the very people who are doing something. We are the people who plant trees, who recycle, who contribute our time and
money to help others in need. We are among the ones who care the most. And we express that care in actions. (I have been doing
so for more than thirty years.) That is why this morning, we were able to share this care this concern in a loving way that will be
amplified in every action that we now take and around this big blue marble we all call home.

159. People who agree to love the planet for an hour
are the types who look for ways to put that love into action.

It is the skeptics who think that the spirit life of the planet
doesn't exist because they can't see it. Because you are not
aware of another reality doesn't mean that reality doesn't exist.

I participated in this event and considered it both an
honor and responsibility to do so.

By focusing my attention on the condition of Mother Earth
I believe I will always be guided to act in ways that do no harm
to this fragile planet we call home.

The meditation is a way to enlarge the thought process and energy field
of those committed to changing the path we are on.

I combine my heart and my hands in service to change.

182. Imagine...
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

164. Thank you for all the thank yous above.
As for courage to post this stuff in GD. . .what am I risking really. . .?

As the saying goes. . ."there is a fine line between bravery and foolhardiness."

Now, since this will be kicked off the Greatest momentarily. . .

Here is a closing prayer and a reminder that despite what some said upthread of the uselessness of all of this. . .

it has been said that "prayers of gratitude are the most powerful of all."

Makes me wonder what the heck all these dissenters were praying for.

Thanks to everyone for everything and what a lovely experience.

Wows.

but decided to participate anyway. I normally check DU several times a day, and your post was on the home page so I clicked on it. This was about two hours before the meditation was supposed to start, which gave me enough time to read a little of the background on the "Fire the Grid" website, but not enough time to notify my friends and family to join the effort. But I decided what the hell, I've stayed up all night before for worse reasons.

The results were pretty amazing to me because I am NOT a meditator! I've tried meditation several times and consider that I've failed (or had very limited success) each time. But I do believe in the reality of "The Grid," and while I don't think it can ever be destroyed while there are human beings on this earth, I believe it has deteriorated and needs to be strengthened.

So I focused on rebuilding the Grid. I did this by focusing on my own "local" or personal Grid, my connections with all the people who have ever been important to me in my life, living and dead, famous (such as my favorite writers) and unknown. Everyone I could think of, some of them several times. For the first time in my life, I was able to sit on the couch with my eyes closed, trying to remember and re-activate every positive influence in my life. I only took a couple of breaks during that time to refresh this thread and see if any new notes had been posted.

I want to stress that I've NEVER been able to focus like that before in my life! I've participated in group rituals (quite recently, in fact) but as far as I can tell I've never been able to raise positive energy alone. Except that I wasn't really alone.
