Iraqi Men “Worth Shooting Twice” says Marine
15Jul07

In a disturbing CNN.com article entitled "Marine testimony: All Iraqi men viewed as insurgents," Cpl. Saul H. Lopezromo testifies about a common procedure our military employs known as “dead-checking.”

Lopezromo said a procedure called “dead-checking” was routine. If Marines entered a house where a man was wounded, instead of checking to see whether he needed medical aid, they shot him to make sure he was dead, he testified.

“If somebody is worth shooting once, they’re worth shooting twice,” he said.

Lopezromo is a witness in the court-martial trial of Cpl. Trent D. Thomas, one of five men charged with the murder of a 52-year-old Iraqi civilian. Four of the men pleaded guilty and received lesser sentences, however, Thomas withdrew his plea and is now being court-martialed.

2. Or maybe the Marines have piss poor training
and when in the field have no idea how to behave professionally?

So much the constant rhetoric of "doing a job" coming out of the military...

3. "what's wrong with these people"
Could it be the stress of multiple rotations in Iraq, could it be the 24/7 stress of urban combat, could it be that most or our military KNOW that "support the troops" is more bullshit from the President and his RePuke cronies for their wet dream in Iraq???? The list of "could it" might be a mile long, it shouldn't condone for a second that attitude and associated behavior but those Marines deserve every benifit of doubt we can give them and every bit of understanding where the real blame for that belongs (clue) its not with the troops.
