Cloture vote on Webb amendment failed by only 4 votes. Who can we pressure to turn?
I think we should focus our efforts on some of the more vulnerable and or moderate Republicans. Pete Domenici would be one Senator we should target after his statement about breaking from Bush on the war. I also think Arlen Specter may be someone we could turn. PA gave Santorum the boot for his pro-Bush positions, and Arlen says he wants to run for reelection in 2010. He is the only Republican on the Judiciary Committee that has applied ANY pressure to Gonzales.

Anyone else have suggestions?

<snip>

The vote was 56-41 to end debate, with 60 votes needed to move to a full, up-or-down vote on the Webb measure. Once again, the GOP has been successful at destroying another Democratic attempt at helping service members and their families caught in the buzzsaw of the Bush administration's lies and incompetence.

<snip>

Of course, the always-worthless Joe Lieberman voted with Republicans to kill Webb's troop-protection amendment to the Defense Department authorization bill, along with Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM) who just showed how sincere he is in his statements about breaking ranks with George W. Bush on the Iraq occupation.

Among those joining Senate Democrats in supporting the Webb measure, were Republicans Norm Coleman, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John Sununu, Chuck Hagel, Gordon Smith and John Warner -- all but Snowe are up for reelection next year.

1. Is Lindsey Graham going to run for re-election?
His term is up next year. If he is running, he's a definite choice for local ads highlighting his unwillingness to back the troops on this measure.

2. Where can I find a list of all who voted?
I have 2 Pub Senators and I'm sure they voted NO unless then weren't there. I want to make sure they actually voted before I make the accusations and bitch them out AGAIN!

11. Good suggestion.
I think that's the way we can turn this around. Absolutely BOMBARD some of these more vulnerable senators with phone calls, letters, emails.
