OSHA banning ammo! EVERYONE PANIC
http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=3145

Apparently OSHA's new regulations will BAN ALL AMMUNITION FOREVER OMGZ. This is WORSE THAN NAZI GERMANY.

I'm not necessarily caring one way or the other, and think this is much ado over a proposed regulation that will likely never make it out of the comment phase. It's just amusing listening to all the good Republicans bitching and whining all day.

2. I guess the NRA has to do something to convince gun users their rights are threatened
Have to keep those dues coming in, after all.

5. I realize that
But the Democratic members of that organization tend not to go into panic mode like their Republican variants a few cubicles over have literally all morning.

6. How would you know that?
Just curious.

How would you know the political affiliation of any NRA member if they do not offer that information to you?

7. Because they have?
I'm sorry, are you feeling insulted or something? I'm not one of the anti-gun people, so you can forget trying to run down that road. Notice the word "tend" in there, meaning it is based on what observations I have (which are plenty), not on absolute fact. Now read the post again.

The point is the fearmongering by pro-gun groups over a regulation that is still in public comment phase that will almost certainly never be enacted. Care to actually address that, or would you prefer being a victim?

8. Once again, people reading too much into mere questions.
They're just questions, man. I feel no insult or slight at any of your comments, I'm just asking questions to clarify what background you have in the matter at hand. So, you can stop jumping to conclusions and getting your panties in a bunch.

9. A solution in search of a problem. Show me the exploding gunstores.

I live in lightning strike ground zero, and I've yet to see or hear about an actual incident.

I googled and all I could find was a gun store in Kandahar, Afganistan(!) that had this problem. Oh, and a "gun cotton" plant back in 1871.

10. More NRA Fundraising....
Edited on Fri Jul-06-07 08:36 AM by Jeff In Milwaukee
The proposed rule specifically asks if a) retailers can reasonably eliminate all sparks and open flames from their place of business b) if the 50 ft. safety perimeter should be reduced and c) if retailers of small arms ammunition should be exempt altogether. This is typical of OSHA to propose a highly-restrictive rule and pull back after the public comment period.
