How long does the Impeachment process take?
Can it be accomplished before the next election?

If it did take until the next election, I would rather wait and get the bastards on war crimes or something else and actually throw their ass's in prison. I am all for getting them out of office, I am all for doing this on principal alone.

We need to preserve the integrity of our political system (or at least what is left of it). I am just wondering the futility of doing something that will not be able to take place before the bastards are out of office.....

I also don't want to distract from what is going on from day to day and I don't want to detract from the upcoming election. It is a hard thing to think about right now.

Impeachment is too easy of a punishment for them, they really need to be led off in handcuffs to some undisclosed location.

1. Cheney and Bush could be impeached within 48 hours if congress had the will
....and the votes to do it. There certainly is more than enough evidence and grounds for impeachment of these tow shysters and of course most of their advisor's could be taken down by impeachment as well.

2. it's a very simple process
And, thanks to Kenneth Starr and the Clinton haters, we now know that an "impeachable offense" is whatever the House Judiciary Committee decides it is.

3. As Soon As You Can Line Up 67 Repugnicans For A Conviction
Right now I would say maybe one Repugnican, Hagel, would vote for Impeachment...that's about it. If and when the votes are there, you impeach...if you don't convict, boooshie continues his reign of terror with "vindication".

An impeachment circus would shut down a lot of the Federal Government...especially if there's a Senate trial...and if the Democrats don't convict, besides possibly uniting and energizing Repugnicans, be assured the corporate media will paint the Democrats as being "obstructionists", "overturning an election" and then "inept" since they couldn't convict. All this will have an affect on the '08 elections.

You are very correct...impeachment is too easy a punishment here. Criminality isn't addressed by impeachment...only in a court of law...or, more specific, in the World Court in the Hague.

5. It Took 6 Weeks To Draft and Enact the Patriot Act - Government can move when it wants to.
Think about that, it only took 6 weeks from 9/11 until passage of the Patriot Act.

So how long could it possibly take to impeach these two bastards?
