Why should we insist on impeachment even though they say there isn't enough time?

Every 10 minutes, an Iraqi citizen dies.

Every 10 hours, a US soldier dies.

Every 10 days, $2 billion is spent in Iraq.

5. Those arrogant men don't care how many lives are lost every day
just as long as they get the money a war makes for the greedy bastards. How much of that money is going into the creation of corporate private armies?

Bush doesn't give a rat's ass how low his ratings get. He is in charge and is he going to stay in charge and no one can stop him.

3. Plus, both Bush and Cheney have committed high crimes
...and misdemeanors and those are impeachable offenses. Congress has an obligation to impeach these men because their actions are destroying the constitution which they each swore to uphold

7. Yep. Its good for us to call for impeachment.
I can't stand people in the grass roots who act like we have the luxury to be politically "pragmatic" about it...The truth is the senators will do that for us: Our job is to stand up and speak our consciences, that this guy should be GONE.

8. It's a myth that we don't have time. Impeachment doesn't end in 2008.
Impeachment can happen after they are out of office.

And one of the important parts is that it'll keep them from running for office again.

32. That is so much bullshit - impeachment after 1/20/09 is meaningless
Besides, despite rumors to the contrary, they haven't repealed term limits for Presidents yet, so what's this about "running for office AGAIN?!?"

35. I guess I have to defend myself.
Edited on Sat Jun-23-07 11:19 AM by Gregorian
All I was saying was I want impeachment. Now, or later. It's not meaningless. If we had a Congress that could convict, then even after they've left office they could suffer the consequences of never running again. I'm talking about those in this administration who were already convicted and pardoned by a previous president. I don't want that happening again. If impeached it won't happen again. And I never mentioned the name Bush. He's not running again. Not if it's still America.

Now to start another day.

20.  With all the efforts put forward by the people -
Still the house and senate are not listening . I am all for impeachment however it's still off the table . I feel it should have been priority one along with getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan .

The ONLY way I see getting them out is millions of people have to suck it up and hit the streets and stay there for as long as it takes and even then if they won't put it back on the table then what ?

18 more months will completely destroy what's left of this country and I see it will get much worse , They have enough high crimes to impeach , I have no idea how long it would take but 6 months have been wasted already .

When someone comes up with a workable idea and a plan to put into action then I just don't see it happening , I am trying to be realistic here .

Look at good old torture boy , he still holds his office and where the hell is Rummy . It's all smoke and mirrors .

21. The message is clear:
The right-wingers are the REAL Americans. They have a wide berth for error. Whether it's questions left unanswered when a Democratic president was shot; or students protesting against the war; or abusing the CIA or FBI for personal gain, it doesn't matter. If they're white and male, they don't commit crimes, just errors of judgement and it's our Christian duty to forgive them.

Bush claims exemption from his oversight order
By Josh Meyer, Times Staff Writer
7:44 PM PDT, June 22, 2007

WASHINGTON -- The White House said Friday that, like Vice President Dick Cheney's office, President Bush's office is exempt from a presidential order requiring government agencies that handle classified national security information to submit to oversight by an independent federal watchdog.

The executive order that Bush issued in March 2003 covers all government agencies that are part of the executive branch and, although it doesn't specifically say so, was not meant to apply to the vice president's office or the president's office, a White House spokesman said....

***

...from the start, Bush considered his office and Cheney's exempt from the reporting requirements, White House spokesman Tony Fratto said in an interview Friday...."We don't dispute that the ISOO has a different opinion. But let's be very clear; this executive order was issued by the president, and he knows what his intentions were," Fratto said. "He is in compliance with his executive order."

Fratto conceded that the lengthy directive, technically an amendment to an existing executive order, does not specifically exempt the president's office or the vice president's office from the requirements. Instead, it refers to "agencies" as being subject to the requirements, which Fratto said did not include the two executive offices. "It does take a little bit of inference," Fratto said....

***

"If the president and the vice president don't take their own rules seriously, who else should?" said Tom Blanton, director of the National Security Archive, a nongovernmental research institute at George Washington University in Washington that lobbies for open government. "If they get a blank check, it's a recipe for disaster. I can't think of a quicker way to break down the credibility of the entire security classification system."...

27. If we don't impeach, future presidents will push the envelope further.
Impeachment is the only way to show that the country will not tolerate criminals in its government. (Elections don't work, because the criminals steal them.) If we just allow this merry band to rape us over and over again, what will stop future presidents and their henchmen from doing worse?

28. Impeach before it is too late!
I agree with all of your reasons and add one more that gets lost in our arrogance: The very safety of our own people.

Bushco has stirred up a hornets nest over in the Middle East...they have destabilized the region, they have used WMD there, they have imprisoned and tortured tens of thousands if not more, they are trying to rob Iraq of their resources, they are the very reason for over a million more refugees, they threaten Iraq's neighbors with further war and possibly a nuclear one this time....We all know that they have done this and more. Would you risk retribution from an angry Middle East? They have every single moral right in this world to exact revenge on America. By NOT impeaching the entire bush crime family we send those people this message: WE THE PEOPLE CONDONE BUSHCO'S CRIMES!

Telling me that you do not condone what bushco has done over there is helping make us safer how?
Go ahead and flame me you anti impeachers, go ahead and flame those angry victims some more too...
It's not like they can come here and set off a nuke in one of our cities...no they have no reason to be mad at you or your loved ones.

WE THE PEOPLE have a lot of fences to mend, those repairs can not start until bush and his cronies are gone. Waiting for '08 may be too late! For our own safety: IMPEACH THESE BASTARDS before it is too late!

They should him Impeach b/c he and his minions have committed CRIMES, it's as simple as that.

Here are some others to watch for and combat.

Because even if it's the next congress on the last day of this never-elected, never legitimate regime, impeachment is still necessary to Redeem Our National Soul.

39. It is a two-part strategy...all designed to delay and do nothing
First, say it is "off of the table"...that should buy a few months of not being held accountable for inaction. Gotta heal the nation, you know.

Wait until Bush screws up a thousand more things and pisses off everyone in the country....that bought a few more months.

Now that everyone is good and mad and demanding action.....whooops...not enough time.

Thanks for playing.
