5. I always figured that if the Catholic church divested itself of all
their property, treasures, art, etc., etc., they could feed the world for about 100 yrs.

15. jesus himself said the poor will always be with us
i strongly suspect that if the catholic church melted down all its gold and treasures then at the end of the day then there would be fewer art treasures in the world and yet the hungry would still be there

the church does work to end poverty, but i don't know if the best way to end poverty is to impoverish oneself, there is nothing wrong w. preserving the good and the beautiful
