was anchoring local news at the Baltimore NBC affiliate. She's a bit annoying, otherwise OK.

i think he was freaked out by Katrina that day, and it was just genuine exasperation with Carol Costello, who can be pretty annoying. I like the guy, one of the few good people left at CNN.

8. CNN has been infected with "banterism". They can NEVER just

read the damned news, show the pictures, and STFU.

People do not tune into a 24-hr "news" channel , expecting to watch Regis & Kelly chit chatting away.

That's what made CNN great (in the beginning). They ran the film, read the facts and went on to the next thing.. There was very little IF ANY banter and smiley-talk , accompanied by guffaws and mock-play talk.

Maybe it's something about being in front of a camera. I think that people forget that Cronkite was regarded as a 'great' because he DIDN'T preen and posture. The emotion he showed when announcing JFK's death was remarkable because it was a RARE display of Walter's feelings - something he never did.

The preening, posturing, "listen to ME!" types populating the "news" these days are an embarrassment - a shame that displays how abysmally shallow we've gotten.
