Please watch this video about puppy mill auctions sign the petition~!!! Guess who
is real involved in this? The Amish!! :wtf:

Years ago I went to an Amish horse and other livestock auction so I know that is a reality in their life. But I am so sorry to see some of them doing this with puppies. I hope the people who made this video will personally visit some Amish homes because with their lack of connection to the world they may not know how bad the situation is and how many dogs end up dead because of it.

2. I have a foster right now that came from an Amish puppy mill
He is 8 months old, and has been in our system for about a month. I've had him for 2 days now, they just separated him from another pup he came with to make sure they are OK apart. And they are, he just LOVES my dog. These guys were kept crated 24/7, and they had no choice but to use the crate as their bathroom. They had never seen the outdoors, and were scared of almost everything. They have come a long way. They now greet new people properly and willingly and are willing to see what happens with new things. They love the sunshine, it is a new experience for them. They seem to be remarkably healthy in spite of what they went through, and the one that I have is one of the sweetest pups I have ever met. They both have house training issues, another reason they were separated, its no wonder with how they started their life out. I think my foster is finally starting to get it, he went to the back door and asked to go out, and then peed. That is a first for him. It really isn't his fault, he just still has a lot to learn. :spank:

4. What kind of dogs? I have contacted Chihuahua rescues and had not much
Edited on Mon Jun-11-07 11:07 PM by Maraya1969
luck with them. One group refused to give me a dog because I said I did not give heart worm 100% of the time. Sorry but I think that during the non-mosquito months I don't want them to take a pesticide every damn month.

So that is how I ended up with Duke, my 14 year old baby that I got in December. I think I was turned down by them because Duke needed a home. And he is sweet and funny and I love him.

5. I volunteer for a lab rescue
Eddie is really starting to come out of his shell. He has made a lot of progress in just 2 days. I don't have any pics of him yet. Still trying to get a good outdoor shot. Heartworm meds also takes care of other types of worms too, but it depends on where you live as to whether you need it year round. Good for you for taking a 14 year old. The older dogs have the most trouble finding new homes. I think Chihuahua rescues are harder to find because they have small litters, only a few pups per litter, while labs have huge litters. Your boy is very handsome.
