`Lil' Bush': a cartoon take on the prez
By FRAZIER MOORE, AP Television Writer

NEW YORK - Like most political satire, "Lil' Bush" pinpoints the logical extreme of real life.

Take its title character. Lil' George Bush is a pushy if none-too-swift lad making mischief with his pals from Beltway Elementary: Lil' Condi, Lil' Cheney and Lil' Rummy (pint-size versions of Condoleezza Rice, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld). Another thing: Lil' George resides in the White House.

Oh, sure, this new Comedy Central cartoon show does take lil' liberties with the truth. For instance, "Lil' Bush" is set in the present, yet George H.W. (not George W.) Bush is the nation's chief executive. And though Lil' Cheney mutters in an indecipherable growl (seem familiar?), his practice of biting off the heads of live chickens has no basis in real life.

On the premiere (Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. EDT), Lil' George and his chums go to Iraq in hopes of tracking down some good news about the war to cheer up his dad for Father's Day.

But once they arrive, where will the kids look?

"Right here: Baghdad!" says Lil' George between explosions. "It's got `Dad' right in it!"

8. There's a theory that when a show goes to "babies" it's jumped the shark —
the current administration jumped the shark long ago.

11. It is subtle, but savage
Especially Barbara Bush. She sounds like the sweet old mom while she's actually being pure evil

6. there was a live action "that's our bush" or something with Timothy Bottoms
very funny, very scathing, very canceled after 9/11

10. We watched it
They went after every stereotype. It was lame but funny. I think it was called "That's My Bush" by the creators of South Park. Originally the twins were supposed to be lesbian lovers but Comedy Central said that was too far.

24. and the one where Bush tried to cover up his accidental killing ...
... of a hired comedian was oddly prescient. (Somehow the writers and cast realized that he would never, ever apologize.)

9. Frankly, I think it's inappropriate.
Not because it's disrepectful (hell, I'm happily disrespectful), but because there's just nothing funny about the Little King any more. Bush has done so much damage to this country, cost so many lives, blown or stolen so much money -- it's just not funny any more.

I won't be watching it.

12. HAHA! No Lil Rove!?! Oh that's right, he already looks just like a cartoon
character - no way to make that shit up. So funny to see who gets top billing. I bet Rove is a floating turd.

18. Satire or not. I'm not wild about any cartoon that makes them
look cute. I would rather they satirized them as vampires or gargoyles drinking oil stolen from the Middle East for cocktail hour. But I will watch once or twice to see what they do with it.

22. The reason it's not funny: There's no protagonists.
Making fascist warmongers look loveable isn't funny, it's bullshit. I've seen some previews of this toss on some blogs and it's almost as mean-spirited as these assholes are in real life. These people are past the point of being just intolerable to make fun of. They need to be suspended by their wrists in a dungeon for their crimes against humanity. They're walking plagues, not cartoon subjects, damn it.

23. The commercial spots they're running for this show
on Comedy Central make the show look incredibly lame and amateurish.

A lengthy joke about lil' Bush not liking to read books? Hardy har har-- :sarcasm:
