(The kiss of death) Bush vows hands-on approach on immigration
I don't think he realizes rethugs DON'T want a bill, and anything he's fervently for to 'secure his legacy', I'm FERVENTLY against.

Bush vows hands-on approach on immigration
By Klaus Marre
June 11, 2007

President Bush said Monday he would be actively involved in getting the comprehensive immigration bill back on track, and that he plans to visit the Senate this week to find a way to do so.

“I believe we can get an immigration bill,” Bush said in Sofia, Bulgaria. “Now, it’s going to require leadership from the Democrat leaders in the Senate, and it’s going to require me to stay engaged and work with Republicans who want a bill.”

Bush, currently on a trip through Europe, told reporters he had been in touch with three GOP senators about the bill.

The president indicated that, upon his return, he would waste no time in getting the process moving again, and that he would visit the Senate Tuesday.

“It’s important that we address this issue now,” Bush said.

The bill stalled last week when Republicans demanded more time to discuss amendments and Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) failed to cut off debate.

1. I don't think we have to worry about his legacy--it's already sealed.
I don't think anything can overcome his disasterous invasion. And it's so right--the more he works at something, the faster it goes downhill.

Another Texan,Lyndon Johnson, was very skillful at getting the Congress to do his bidding. Johnson he ain't.
