C-Span Doing a "Talk Show Host" panel....Anyone see it? tired, tired, tired.
I just flipped it on surfing and there were maybe 12 people bloviating about their "Audience" and most seemed to be conservative talk show hosts like Lars Larson, Gordon Liddy and others that I don't know but they all seemed to be saying the same thing: "Clinton, Clinton, Janet Reno, Cut & Run Dems, Win in Iraq, Gotta WIN in Iraq...blather, blather, blather.

The three that seemed to be trying to represent Moderates or Progressives were Stephanie Miller, Lionel and Bill Press. Bill Press and Lionel seemed tired of the whole Repug Litany of "Clinton, Sex, Hillary, Vince Foster, Democrats are Criminals" crap and Stephanie tried but seemed drowned out of the group.

She tried to bring up that Gonzalez should be gone...he lied to congress, he tried to obstruct justice by getting a sick man (Ashcroft) to sign an illegal wiretapping...but they just shouted her down with Janet Reno didn't prosecute anyone, she did nothing, she was a Clinton whore...the Democrats did worse the Democrats are....blah, blah."

It made me tired. I thought about how I've been hearing this Crap so long that it goes in one ear and out the other. Panels stacked with bloviating Repugs who say the same thing to their brain dead listeners and a few Progressives/Moderates who try to do something but never seem to be able to withstand the onslaught of language and lies.

Why bother......

I wonder if their viewership is dropping? I don't see statistics on how these Talk Shows are doing. I had my doubts about that Lionel on AAR...This is the first time I'd seen or heard him. He wasn't impressive to me...but I know some DU'ers like him.

Anyway...tired...tired...old stuff...same old stuff.

1. C-SPAN didn't have the courage to invite Thom Hartmann, huh?
Thom + Stephanie + Sam Seder + Randi Rhodes or Rachel Maddox === now THAT would be worthwhile viewing.

For YOU KoKo01 - you are NOT alone in feeling tired - there IS hope -->

I Have a Dream, and a Plan (Brent Budowsky)

America stands at the threshold of a new Democratic president, Democratic Congress, FDR-magnitude realignment and a national spirit reminiscent of the New Frontier.

There will be a transformation of American media as powerful as the days when Edward R. Murrow took integrity and quality to broadcast radio and then network television.

By November 2008 there will be a giant mega-move of mutual empowerment and support networks of the progressive Internet, radio and politics that will have extraordinary power to drive ratings, move money and turn out votes.

Follow the numbers. American politics today involves a large majority of Americans who feel disrespected by the power institutions of politics and media.

For every poll about high disapproval for the president and Congress, and declining ratings for fossilized forms of “entertainment,” giant constituencies are waiting for a voice.

<snip>

Why do the morning and primetime lineups of MSNBC hosts look like a segregated, all-male country club of the 1950s? Stephanie Miller did a sensational job guest hosting the Imus slot and is one smart executive away from becoming the next cable host superstar with success equal to that of Keith Olbermann.

<snip>

Do the math: We are on the right side and Republicans are on the wrong side of global warming, where 80 percent of Americans want change. Republicans are in bed with oil companies, who make record profits while they rip off consumers and profit from wars, while homeless vets go hungry and disabled vets are often neglected.

<snip>

Let the partisans of the right and the media megaphone for their game champion their world of endless war and their politics of endless fear.

We stand for a politics where our heritage comes from a president who led his crew in PT-109 and wrote a book called Profiles in Courage. If we stand for courage and they stand for fear, we win that debate in a landslide.

2. Now that you mention it...that's what made me so tired...because it was only
limited to the most "vocal" and not the others who are working like Thom Hartmann and the others on AAR that were there. I like Stephanie Miller ...and she seemed the "newest voice" but Stephanie does alot of comedy/sarcasm on her show. I guess "insider Bill Press" stood in for Hartmann?

Maybe that's what they were doing? The ones with the highest ratings? Does "Lionel" have huge ratings after only a few weeks on AAR, though? That's what I wonder.

3. I have no idea what kind of ratings Lionel has...
The people who put together that kind of event are always a year or two behind current -- to them Stephanie Miller is cutting edge, when she really isn't.

Thom Hartmann is whupping Rush Limpball's arse in a bunch of markets in which they go head-to-head.

I don't know what their logic was or even if they were trying to be logical...
