I'm reading Al Gore's latest book
"The Assault on Reason," and I am just getting more and more pissed. Gore spells out how the Bush administration has stripped the U.S.A. of everything that is great about it. The thing that makes me the most angry about what is going in this country is that I am honestly ashamed to call myself an American. I can not defend the actions of this country and Goddamn you Bush for making me feel this way.
Al Gore writes, "We have reached a point where we hardly recognize our country when we look in the mirror. How could we have come to this point?" We have come to this point because I have failed. I have been blindly compliant with the moderate progress and believing that they are not just for show (McCain Amendment).
The idea of America is that we should embody the greatest aspects of human nature and live it. To steal from Howard Zinn a little bit, if we only do good, why would any one want to hurt us? Getting back to this is idea of what democracy should be is going to be hard and I'm not entirely certain how to do it, but I see little arguments that turn into nationalism movements and I'm dismayed by these "third wavers." Like making English the national language. Are these people really telling me that in the greatest country in the world (see I can say it) with one of the best higher education systems, you honestly can't learn Spanish? Or better yet, they (migrant workers) can learn English easier then you could learn Spanish! They want to tighten the boarders and limit immigration because Americans are losing their jobs. Right. . . once again we have the highest per capita income in the world and one of the best higher education systems and your telling me you can't get a better job? This crap drives me crazy. I think I'm done yelling for now but I'll probably be back soon to yell some more.

Oh yeah. . .
